Firstly, the waiting time for food was ridiculously long (it took an hour from ordering). I had an hour long booking and mentioned when booking that we wanted food, so would have preferred if someone had dropped me a message to give us a heads up about the expected times for food because I can't imagine this was a one-off rush. Simple things like fish fingers were unavailable, despite it being lunchtime (I'd understand more if they'd run out later in the day). 'GFO' marked on a couple of places on the menu - meaning gluten free option available, I think - but the fries are not gluten free because they are cooked in the same oil as items containing gluten. 'Gluten free' is a protected term to keep people with coeliac disease or allergies safe! I asked to switch the fries for salad, expecting I might get some tomato or cucumber, but instead I just got a plate loaded with baby leaf salad and a burger, which cost me £12.95. I felt a bit ripped off when everyone else at the table paid less for twice as much food. The member of staff I spoke to was very snappy with me, too - I understand they were busy and I might sometimes ask a lot of questions (I don't want to get sick from being cross-contaminated), and I'm also autistic so I probably come across a little awkward at times, but I still deserve to be treated with some respect as I don't feel I was rude to them. Overall I was embarrassed to have suggested going there as it was meant for a lunch with colleagues but we ended up being there half the afternoon. The building itself is nice, views are great and it seems fairly clean, so I give it two stars instead of just one, but it's not a place I'd recommend after my experience there.

Me and my wife arrived on a Saturday afternoon to find a crowd of people blocking the entrance and not one person there to greet us or seat us. After standing in a queue at the bar amongst others getting a drink we were pointed at where to sit despite a reservation. There was no actual service given and we weren’t even told how and where to order food and drinks. Looking around we had to assume you went up to the bar to order food. And that bring me onto my next problem. The bar area was incredibly tight and messy. There was no indication of who was ordering first or a separation of food and drink orders. I stood at the bar for 15 minutes whilst bar staff chatted and giggled. Not impressed. This would not have been a problem if the ordering app displayed actually worked. After ordering we sat down to blasting music in our ears barely able to hear myself think. Admittedly we didn’t know the atmosphere would be so loud but they could separate the people eating to the quieter upstairs area. We were left waiting for 50 minutes after ordering even thinking our food hadn’t gone through before it finally came. We were questioning leaving if we hadn’t already paid. When given the food we weren’t asked if we would like anything e.g condiments and the waiter didn’t even apologise for the huge wait. Anyway, the only reason we gave 3 stars was the food. For the price the burger and chips we ordered was top quality. Especially the skin on fries were very good I couldn’t get enough. The burger was well seasoned and different to what I’ve had before. I ordered the “spicy one”. It was very nice. We left promptly after finishing our meal to get some peace and quiet.

Enjoyed an excellent lunch at Water Lane Boathouse! Arrived around 12:30pm on a very cold Sunday in January to find plenty of free tables, although there were quite a few reserved and it did fill up quite a bit later on so it might be advisable to book for larger parties. On Sundays there is a 50% off pizza deal and Amstell is only £3.50 per pint, so 2 pizzas and 2 pints only came to £18.95. Amazing value! The pizzas were both absolutely delicious. It was a difficult choice as there were lots of good options, but in the end, we opted for the spicy chicken and the meatball with caramelised onions. We were impressed that they arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. We were lucky to secure a window seat and had a lovely view of the dock (the water was iced over!) whilst we enjoyed our lunch.

I went to Water Lane Boathouse on Saturday afternoon for some dinner and drinks with a couple of friends. We all ordered our food separately but literally within seconds of each other. My pizza came first which was fine but then my friend (who ordered last) then got her pizza which was literally stone cold. Anyway my other friend had ordered a chicken sandwich and we waited about 45 minutes before asking a girl who worked there (ginger girl with glasses) where it was. She basically said that we gave table 78 instead of table 79 so it went back. Firstly when she ordered the guy just said if she was sat on the bench where the puppy was and the bottles of prosecco where which she was. Anyway this girl was so rude she basically said it was our fault that we hadn't had this sandwich. After us arguing with her she said she would go and get another sandwich but she said you'll just have to wait until it's ready- she won't push it to the front of the queue. We then waiting another half an hour and still no sandwich- I went to find out where it was and then she finally brought it out, with no cutlery or sauces. We asked her if we could have them and she just sighed and said for gods sake under her breath. When she brought them she literally just slammed them onto the table. Anyway I told her that we were so disgusted by her service and we'd like some form of compensation and she just turned around and said if you have an issue then go find the manager. I know it was busy on Saturday but I can't believe there is someone like this working there! We all live in Leeds and go regularly to the Boathouse but since the weekend we won't be rushing back! Why would you want someone who is so rude and not customer friendly working in that...
