My fiancé and I had such a bad experience that we cancelled our whole wedding 7 months before the date. When we first viewed The Mansion, we fell in love with it. When we booked the venue, nothing was too big and we were made to feel special but that quickly ended. It became apparent that nothing could be accommodated without unnecessary charges or extra payments. I’ll admit, on getting carried away with the excitement, I didn't read the contract thoroughly as if I had, I’d have never booked this venue. They couldn’t have been more difficult and rude and some of the emails I received were quite frankly condescending and patronising and not what I expect when paying such a lot of money. The high children’s meal price was justified with a rude response about table linen...A close friend wanting to DJ was met with a £200 admin fee, albeit the one thing they eventually agreed to waiver and it continued. It turned our dream experience in to a nightmare and we knew we'd made a terrible mistake. Morally, how you can have a cancellation clause that charges 25% of the final fee if you cancel 100 days or more from the date I don’t know. We had a Saturday in August which I’m sure has been taken already. Unlike other suppliers who were happy to refund our deposit payment if they filled the slot with another wedding, the Mansion rudely ignored this request but not before they made sure to ask for more money.... I would not recommend my worst enemy entertain this company, I think it's vile that they can treat people like this. They’ve taken £2,500 of our money for a wedding that’s not happening and will make even more from the next couple.
