My fiancé and I had such a bad experience that we cancelled our whole wedding 7 months before the date. When we first viewed The Mansion, we fell in love with it. When we booked the venue, nothing was too big and we were made to feel special but that quickly ended. It became apparent that nothing could be accommodated without unnecessary charges or extra payments. I’ll admit, on getting carried away with the excitement, I didn't read the contract thoroughly as if I had, I’d have never booked this venue. They couldn’t have been more difficult and rude and some of the emails I received were quite frankly condescending and patronising and not what I expect when paying such a lot of money. The high children’s meal price was justified with a rude response about table linen...A close friend wanting to DJ was met with a £200 admin fee, albeit the one thing they eventually agreed to waiver and it continued. It turned our dream experience in to a nightmare and we knew we'd made a terrible mistake. Morally, how you can have a cancellation clause that charges 25% of the final fee if you cancel 100 days or more from the date I don’t know. We had a Saturday in August which I’m sure has been taken already. Unlike other suppliers who were happy to refund our deposit payment if they filled the slot with another wedding, the Mansion rudely ignored this request but not before they made sure to ask for more money.... I would not recommend my worst enemy entertain this company, I think it's vile that they can treat people like this. They’ve taken £2,500 of our money for a wedding that’s not happening and will make even more from the...
Read moreDisinterested and wreckless with allergy sufferers (Feb 2019). Not a single vegan option. Overpriced and charged for higher price items when asked for plain toast for toddler (charged £3.50 noted as "teacake") and when all I could have was smashed avocado on toast and chips I was charged £10.45 (breastfeeding a 4month old allergy baby) and the other allergen ingredients were not offered to other members of the party. No allergy menu. They lied to say the smashed avocado had only lemon juice in it (as someone that has avocado daily I know that any lemon was overpowered by the addition of something creamy/buttery and consequently allergenic since the waitress confirmed they only had butter no dairy free margarine). Also not child friendly. The only minors in the restaurant until our arrival were the service staff. Two other reviews on fb said they found hair in their meal, were charged full price despite sending it back and management didn't care. I've experienced the same attitude from management, instead of accepting and improving standards just lie and defend the...
Read moreIt was a few months ago when we visited my father-in-law's grave then decided to lighten up the day with a meal. We were burdened with sadness and we had no energy to argue or resist the abusive food we had! The lunch there came from one of Jordon Ramsey's terrible restaurants. The food smelled and tasted like it was cooked a week ago. It was laden with salt, obviously to keep it edible. Salt was our lunch, the starters and the main course. I have never tasted meat that bad. I didn't finish my meal, nobody did. Asked by the guy there about the meal, my husband summoned some energy to say 'very bad.'!! In other days, we would have said "sorry this is rubbish. We wont pay!" But it was a special day and we let ourselves eat that rubbish and...
