Having decided to stay in Yorkshire for two days we chose the nice town of Otley for one of them and having seen previous positive reviews opted for the Horse and Farrier. |The check in was seamless with a lovely warm and friendly welcome with the staff thorough informative and explaining things offering to carry our baggage to our upper floor room. Our room was excellent and following what we believe was fairly recent renovation work it was clear it had been completed to a high standard with all the facilities which included plenty tea/coffee etc and biscuits. Room was spacious enough and the bed was very comfortable.|We chose to eat and drink at the venue on the evening and again everything was spot on. With it being a Thursday there was entertainment on with local musicians coming in performing set sessions who were good and although not being night owls when we went up around 10pm had certainly enjoyed ourselves. |Breakfast was excellent too and it was lovely that there was no expectation or hurry that we left straight afterwards (as in some establishments) in we had time to have a half an hour walk along the river/park close by which relived some childhood memories for my wife.|Finally a special thanks to the Lady who we believe formerly managed the establishment, now helping out her daughter whom has taken over. There's a second exit to the rear car-park, although the hotel has only 4 spaces it backs onto the large North Parade car park.||The location is close by the river which has a nice bank-side walk and it's within walking distance of everything else in Otley.||I can't comment on the dinner as the chef was on maternity leave and evening meals were 'off' but the cooked breakfast was fine and the range of beers and ales in the bar was good. ||Rooms are comfortable but quite small, from memory there's 4 or 5 in what seems to be loft conversion. My room was shower only via an instant electric heater which was actually OK. Other facilities in the room were fine, with a small desk, kettle, wardrobe etc. An annoyance was the room doors are on automatic closers, probably for fire regs, and other guests did let them slam shut. I'm sure closers can be adjusted so avoid that!||WiFi was OK, but they were having some problems when I was there, maybe linked to the till not accepting credit cards. I paid via booking.com to resolve that.||All in all, I thought decent value and really nothing startling to...
