With restaurants closed, we thought we would try an Italian takeaway for a birthday celebration. This restaurant came recommended from my daughter who lives nearby and has ate in the restaurant on several occasions. Big mistake. We ordered 5 starters and 5 main courses with additional garlic bread for £104, with the expectation we would receive near restaurant quality food. This sadly was not the case. One of the starters did not have the lid secured properly and it leaked in the car after collection, 3 of the main courses (Seafood risotto and spaghetti dishes) were stodgy, bland and for the price lacking in seafood. The garlic bread was dry and crispy without the lashings of garlic oil you would expect. Four of the starters were OK, albeit expensive and luckily the 2 pizza's were very good. Maybe they were really busy and overstretched last Saturday or the transition from "eat in" restaurant to take away does not work with Italian food unless its a pizza? Or maybe my expectations were simply too high. Either way, when you are charged restaurant prices for a take away, you do expect a lot better than this. With hindsight, should have gone with a traditional Indian or Chinese takeaway at...
Read moreLooking at some of the reviews and giving the benefit of the doubt, the takeaway (which we had) was simply awful however better luck appears to be when you attend the actual restaurant?
I ordered a carbonara which actually looking at the menu on reflection maybe explains it... "Bacon cooked in a creamy sauce and parmesan" is pretty much what I got. When opening up the box it came in, I can only describe the smell as an apple pastry, which seemed odd but I stuck with it, a few mouthfuls in and the taste/flavour I was expecting was simply not there. It was just like a dry pasta meal, with a smidge of sauce of what I can only describe as cream, little bit of black pepper, half a bacon ration snipped up and fair helping of olive oil.
It is a shame because on the website it looks good, the prices of what we paid for was 1 Pasta, a starter and some bread (no olive oil or balsamic included by the way) for a bit over £30. They even included a service charge on top of the delivery charge, so with all of that we were expecting restaurant quality food to be delivered but it was not the case. Oh the bread was also burnt a bit on the...
Read moreAbsolutely awful experience and I'll take this further if something doesn't get done ASAP. I've contacted Uber Eats and heard nothing, however it isn't their fault it's the persons who made my pizza and didn't pay attention / disregarded my "note". I stated in multiple ways to have it vegan, no cheese, dairy free, I made it so clear... literally like £23 just for me, just a pizza and fries! I ate the soggy fries as I was hungry, but the pizza came with CHEESE on! And I don't eat cheese! I obviously couldn't eat it because I'm vegan so it literally went in the BIN and that's £23 down the DRAIN. If I don't get a replacement or refund I'm going to take real action because I'm not wasting money like that and being mugged off. I want my refund. It wasn't Uber Eats fault, it was Pizza By Goli. I have not had any kind action been taken since my money was basically stolen from me taking my money and giving me the wrong order! Imagine if it were because I'm allergic to cheese however I'm vegan so I stated no cheese. I want something...
