I attended Thai marina today for my second visit after loving the first experience. I was excited about the government incentive being applicable here for 50% off per person up to £10 each.
2 of us were dining, the meal itself while delicious, was a noticeably smaller portion of the exact same dish I ordered on my last visit. We also felt quite rushed during our stay, it seemed like we had no time to look over the menu and plates were whisked away without being asked if we were finished.
The current protective guidelines that should be in place due to the covid situation seemed to be completely ignored, tables were squashed together less than 1 metre apart and we observed very little cleaning after guests left, including chairs not being cleaned.
The main issue we encountered was with the bill. Our total came to less than £40 so 50% off should have been applied to the full bill (we had not ordered any alcohol). However they did not abide by the government scheme rules and charged more than it should have been. I explained the problem with the bill and spoke to the manager who was very rude, dismissive and abrupt, talking over me while I tried to calmly explain the government offer, and shouting at me after making me follow him behind the counter to look at the till display in front of all of the staff and other customers. He refused to correct the error and pleaded ignorance to the scheme.
Overall a very negative experience and I will not be going back or recommending...
Read moreFood is alright, but absolutely terrible customer service and rude staff (here I am only talking about the guy dressed in green - apparently he may be the owner or the manager).
Me and my friend arrived at Thai Marina at 7pm and placed our order 5 mins later. Our starter came at around 7:20pm and we finished it before 7:30pm. Our main hasn’t come at 7:45pm - we asked the guy in green uniform if they could speed up our order since we had to catch a train at 8:25pm. He was impatient at that time and said we got a starter and they had a queue for food, we would have to wait. At 7:50pm we asked this guy again as there was not much time left for us to walk to the station, he told us the same thing but in a much ruder way. At 7:55pm he finally came with the sharing plates, but still didn’t say when the food would come. We told him if the food is not coming in the next minute we would have to cancel the order and leave since we couldnt miss the train. And this guy in green said “MAYBE YOU CAN GET THE BILL NOW?” in an absolutely ignorant way.
This is totally unacceptable and should never be encouraged. I believe most staff in this restaurant are able to provide good services but never this guy. He ruined my whole experience in this restaurant. I will never...
Read moreI'm Indonesian, 52 and have had hundreds of curries in my life (Indian, Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian). This one was is the best curry I've ever tasted, honestly. I had curry number 42 (Gaeng Dang), with pork. It's a red curry with slowly cooked pork (medium heat) and coconut milk perfectly flavoured with pineapple, bamboo shoots, cherry tomatoes, lychees and sweet basil. The thickness of soup was perfect, and it's very tasty. Lots of curries I had in the past was too watery, but this one was thick and delicious. The pork was tender, and there were some nice vegetables too. A lychee and a small piece of pineapple were a nice surprise, they really balance the strong curry flavour. The staff was friendly, providing good service. The decor was lovely. One table was dedicated for people who want to sit on the floor. The toilet was clean. The most amazing thing about this place (beside the food) is the swivel chairs. All chairs have 4 legs and yet the all swivel! Thank you for such a nice lunch. Today was actually the second time I went here. The first time was a dinner, about a year ago, and it was...
