UPDATED Visit 1: I give it 10 stars, never mind 5. Honestly a huge credit and blessing to the city of Lincoln and its neighbouring communities. Such a splendid experience. top notch in every way. This business is of a truly exemplary standard. The food was scrumptious, good variety on menu, fairly priced. My dessert of treacle toffee pudding (which comes with ice cream to make it even better value for money), was fantastic, moist, and delicious too and would recommend. Highly vouch for the full English, and very accommodating too if there are items you do not like for example. Succulent smoky bacon and amazing sausage and hash browns too. You even get proper butter with the toast, that is definitely a winner! Very welcoming both staff and atmosphere. Very supportive, as someone that is visually impaired very willing to help. The playlist is mint and cool too and very varied, with a chill feel to it too, including some more cultural/instrumental tunes. Something for everyone in all regards. The staff are a great team and very efficient attentive and chatty as well as polite and respectful. The owners, Ellie and Zara, are a gem and such lovely, bubbly, caring people too, such a ray of sunshine. This place, and the staff will truly bring a lot of joy and happiness to all that visit. Can't wait to visit again. Magnificent is an understatement. Big shout out too to Paul and Jess for their great customer service.
Visit 2 - 30 august - All above definitely still applies. Great service by Megan, Maria and team. roves that literally all the staff here are amazing. Had different options today. Fries are nice, tasty and have a good crispiness to them too, so definitely not soggy. The lemon posset is scrumptious. Very impressive, as you would expect a tiny bit tarty btu definitely still sweet and very smooth, silky texture, almost creamy in fact!!! The mirangue was perfect light and soft/crumbly in your mouth as it is meant to be. Overall this place is close to faultless in my opinion, and I really hope this continues to be a roaring success, here is to countless more visits. I expect this place will win numerous awards...
Read moreI joined Cognito's team as a Bar Back/Food Runner position around a year and a half ago and moved up to becoming a waiter after 6 months. Since leaving I have felt they deserve an honest and true review of my time there given that I was able to take on the full experience.
To start with, the owners Zara and Ellie are the most lovely and compassionate people I have ever had the privilege of working with. Their commitment and care to their craft and business really do show. I can promise you if you encounter them on a trip to Cognito you will leave with absolute joy and satisfaction.
The staff at Cognito are some of the best people around. The floor team are such kind and loving people they make your experience at Cognito feel so welcoming and comfortable.
The kitchen team are always cooking up something extra tasty and spectacular, they truly all have a gift for their craft and the food will not disappoint. Special thanks to Darren head chef for always putting a smile on everyone's faces with both his food and humour.
Cocktails are part of Cognito's speciality and that is nothing but the truth. Head of Bar Lucas is one of the most dedicated and inspiring personnel I've ever seen, his brilliant and diverse cocktails he and his team bring together with new cocktail menus on the regular never fall short of greatness. So a special props to him and if you come to try these cocktails you will know exactly what I'm talking about.
Cognito is a place of commitment and care for the customers. Where your needs and desires set, they are always met. Moving forward in my career I most definitely am going to have a really hard time finding a position that beats the love and commitment that everyone at Cognito showed me.
Thank you...
Read moreI took my partner here for lunch on her birthday. We both love sushi, and after 10 years living in Australia we miss just popping out and finding good Sushi restaurants. Cognito was recommended by a friend so we tried it out. The service was good and the staff were very friendly. My partner tried a Patron cocktail which was delicious. Unfortunately that is where the good points stop. We both ordered 3 dishes as was recommended in the menu. Sushi is a very clean and precise way of preparing food, it is always perfectly balanced and the flavours complement one another. Chefs train for years to master their craft. This, unfortunately was not good Sushi. The rice was not seasoned, the fillet beef filling in the Gyoza was not seasoned and they were deep fried (they should be steamed and finished off by frying the bottom in a pan) with a dipping sauce that had no flavour whatsoever, the fillet beef sushi was criminally over priced at £15 for some vegetable stuffed unseasoned rice with a wafer thin sliver of beef sat over the top. The dragon roll and kimchi sushi flavours were poorly balanced and all the sushi had the ends served (a good Sushi chef discards them) and rolls not evenly sliced (some slices thick and some thin). All in all totally overpriced for the worst sushi I have ever had. If the chef was genuinely a sushi chef (and although the server did indicate that they were when I asked, I have my doubts) then they should go back to "Sushi school". I would recommend Yo Sushi before this place. 2 stars because the service and drinks were ok but if you want good Sushi then this is not the...
