When visiting family, we went here for an evening meal primarily because the menu prices were reasonable. The staff were welcoming and friendly and informed us that there was a free quiz night which was a nice bonus. There was ample seating on different levels, our food was quick to arrive, portion sizes were good and food was tasty. The quiz was good fun and the host created a nice atmosphere whilst running it. The only niggle we had was that they seemed to stop serving food at about 7.30pm once the quiz had started so some of our table missed out on food therefore this might be something to bear in mind.

Stopped by for a quick drink that turned into lunch . Chose two of the warm baguettes from The sandwiches section of the menu , which were ordered at the bar . Initially were impressed with the atmosphere when we first entered , along with the friendly bar staff . It was dog friendly which is always a plus+, and Baxter was provided with a bowl of fresh water, and some treats. Food was prepared freshly and served in a timely manner , our Host Jay was courteous and friendly whilst serving our food . We enjoyed our lunches, and would return when visiting again .

I was sadly disappointed with the food that we received today. For a pub that holds itself apart from those around it for good food and beverages, the quality of the sandwiches we received were sorely lacking. The steak sandwich had a pitiful amount of meat in it, and the chicken sandwich fared little better. Both sandwiches had dressing on them despite being explicitly ordered without. Overall highly disappointed with the food and I do not think I shall be returning for the food. The beers are nice though.

A Marstons pub. As an historic building access is limited for the disabled to the front five tables, which are all high (bar seat) tables so the pub hasn't thought that through. Beyond that small area everything else including the actual bar and the toilets are either up a single flight of stairs to the first floor or up three then down a flight to the basement. The beer is cheap, the view of the street (and Cathedral from a few seats, if you lean back and look over your shoulder) is very nice.

We didn't plan to visit a pub, so this was done on the fly. Stepping into Magna Carter, we were met with friendly welcomes and a lively atmosphere filled with chatter. Tables were clean and bar service was very easy. We ordered a typical pub grub : Steak n Ale pie and Gammon steak with a fried egg. The portions were generous and would say the quality was fair but not amazing. If I was back visiting Lincoln, I would return to this venue no problem at all.

Classic pub with an old English feel, opposite the cathedral, with grill specials and live jazz.
