Came to Liverpool for the day, searched Halal restaurant near me and this was 4mins away with good reviews so I thought why not. What a decision it turned out to be. Having never tried Yemeni food before and being a South Asian who is used to spicy food, I thought it might be bland but in actual fact it was super tasty and flavourful. We got some kind of complementary soup to begin with. It tasted a bit like bone broth with a nice kick to it. Delicious. The hummus was thick and creamy. The chicken was soft, tender with nice spice.

A good judge of a restaurant is if they can cook lamb/meat well and this did not disappoint. The chops were soft, meaty and not chewy at all and had beautiful charring. We got another lamb dish called a Fahsaa and it was lamb and vegetables in a clay pot. It came sizzling and boiling. The lamb was soft, tender and flavourful and broke into pieces easily. Paired perfectly with the arabic bread. Was similar to a lamb nihari but not as spicy. The restaurant itself was nothing too fancy. Very simple and all the tables were full. Service was also very good. Will definitely be coming...

Delicious falafel and hummous wrap, and amazing chai.

I only came here because my nearest takeaway had run out of falafel! I couldn't see falafel on the menu, but as it's the 'Middle Eastern' restaurant, I figured that they surely must have it somewhere (maybe they call it something different). Anyway, I asked one of the chefs and he said they had it, and hummous, and they could make me a wrap with salad. I was concerned that the wrap might end up tasting of meat grease, always a concern when I'm in a takeaway with lots of meat and staff handling the meat grills and then my food...and it was fine. The falafel was divine, it completely exceeded my expectations!

I was also given what I thought was English tea (which I don't like), but actually it was a really, really delicious chai.

Will...

Visited today to try Yemenite food and it was super delicious. Big plates and big portions and the prices are excellent. We got the lamb mandi, chiken kafsa and the shaa(something) bread with yoghurt. Really delicious, the lamb melted in my fingers and it was super tender, the chiken was so soft and tender aswell. We ate so much! The portions were super generous. You have to come early to have a sit because it's a very busy place and the food takes some time to arrive. I recommend this place, we will be back to try the other items on the menu.

Update: we came back and this time was so disappointing. They trick us with the chicken, we ordered half of chiken and it was clearly not the half and also ordered a kebab and they out 3 pieces a lots of rice, we went another place to eat bc we...

Disappointing experience at Middle East restaurant liverpool. The dishes we ordered were flavorful and well prepared. But the service was extremely disappointing. our server seemed uninterested and unresponsive to our requests. When we asked for something they took a long time to attend to it. And sometimes, they didn't even bother. The ambiance was lacking, and the seating area they allocated nearby the food worst. The staffs was very irresponsible, The poor service and uninviting atmosphere overshadowed our experience. Until they improve their service and maintain better hygiene practices. I would not recommend this restaurant.
