I love Wagamama. We've been to this one lots of times and tonight was a disaster.
On arrival, we were ignored. A server walked past us to grab a menu. Didn't acknowledge us or even make eye contact!
Once at our table we waited a very long time before someone came to take our food and drinks order. The server apologised, saying he hadn't seen us. The restaurant was almost empty! Only 4 tables were full so not sure how he missed us.
I was brought a glass that was filthy. The whole of the outside of the glass was dirty!
There were no condiments on the table and only one napkin.
I had recently had a new starter, at the Liverpool One restaurant and having been able to stop thinking about it. Tonight, it was awful. The colour was wrong. The texture was weird. The taste was unpleasant. I couldn't eat it.
We waited so long for one of our main courses, that the manager came over to apologise.
The main courses (which We've had plenty of times) were below par.
Nobody came over, during the meal to ask how things were, or if we needed anything.
The restaurant was very quiet but the staff were stood together chatting and later prepping for some event, ignoring the diners.
It was also very cold and the music was very loud and was like club music, not restaurant music.
I'm glad I've been to other Wagamamas, because if this was my first experience, I'd never go back.
We most definitely won't be returning to the Speke one.
The two stars are for the...
Read moreI like to visit Wagamama's occasional for a nice meal meal out.
There is parking and disabled parking available outside the restaurant.
I have had many mixed experience with the speke store. Sometimes the staff are really friendly and willing to help, but other times they can be really slow and seem uninterested to help. I think it just depends on the day and time.
The restaurant is quite large and holds a lot of people. More often then not you are seated on a bench like area with no back support so make sure to ask for a booth when booking if this is something you require. Everything is displayed nicely on the menu and easy to see what a few pictures of selected items.
The Ramen is presented lovely and tastes amazing. The Katsu chicken was presented lovely but the chicken was very thin and totally burnt. I honestly felt that they tried to cover the mistake with curry sauce.
To pay for the meal they prefer a contactless method were you pay on your phone, this is very simple to do. But if you would rather pay by card they will bring a card machine over for you.
I will continue to visit occasional for a...
Read moreFirst up - A round of applause for all the staff here. Came on my own for a quick bite to eat - the queue was out the door with couples and families - they dealt with it fantastically - on first come first serve basis - didn’t have to wait long for a table. Operating on a first come first serve basis I felt a bit bad getting 4 person table but they made feel assured not to worry and to enjoy. Food came so quickly (which was good as I was pushed for time) and the food was delicious - the atmosphere was laid back and chilled. Special mention to Kasper - very good and assertive with taking the choice out of my hands and recommending me some relatively healthy options quickly from the menu ( the new beef salad and steamed gyozas - see pic. Kasper checked in to make sure food and service was good. Big thumbs up to Kasper and everyone at Wagamama Speke. Sometimes forgot to take pictures but this was purely taken to show my daughter what she was missing out on 😂 since Wagamamas is her favourite place - Holly if your reading this - I’ll come here anytime all you have to...
