🫶Definitely gonna recommend! Recently, I found a Middle Eastern brunch in Hackney. I am tired of eating the same Full English Breakfast which costs £10.5 and £12 at every turn. Today, I want to change my taste with my friend from the same city.
A friend who lives in North London said that this shop is delicious in its blind spots, and we started by following doctor's orders (no. My friend ordered the main Hackney feast, and I ordered the marharba.
🥓 Hackney Feast: A Pro Version of the classic English breakfast This dish is full of meat! Organic cumberland sausage served with greasy orange juice. Bite into it while it's hot! The roasted tomatoes and mushrooms were tender and juicy. The sweetness of the tomato and the saltiness of the bacon intertwine in a rich layer of flavor that completely breaks the monotony of the traditional English breakfast. Fresh sourdough bread topped with long-simmered traditional chickpeas gives you a boost to get through the day.
🐑 Marhaba: A tingle of Middle Eastern flavor If you also like to try different flavors, Marhaba is a must! Delicious! 🥹 I originally ordered this dish for two pieces of grilled cheese 🧀, but it turned out that the bread was also delicious. Although it felt a little hard at first, the Greek yogurt was really wonderful after dipping. They gave away two kinds of dippers. When you're tired of big chunks of red meat, it's nice to scoop up a refreshing Middle Eastern salad with a spoon...
Read moreWe asked to take away pistachio almond croissants whilst waiting for our brunch so its boxed. Some how it wasn't acknowledged so I went right at the front where the pastry/cake selections were and approached the same member of staff named Micky/Mike if we can please have it now but boxed. Half an hour went and he still didn't do it. There were other customers being served on that section by someone else. I just noticed him hoovering about. Didn't even explain how long or why he was taking so long to box up a take away pastry. My reason was that the back of the pastry is open and didn't want flies etc and the other reason was if brunch takes long then could nibble a bit. When he approached near another table, I called him over to ask what happened and we don't want the pastry anymore. He didn't even apologise, he said he was getting the pastry picker? I didn't know it takes more than 15mins to pack a pastry in take away box? I'm a regular and usually like the food but staff do need to smile and service up since the prices are up on the high end, no customers wants a miserable service or lack of friendly staff/communication. It doesn't hurt to say "hi or thank you!" Local customers help the business going. We really don't need to tolerate rude or...
Read moreThis is the place for good barista coffee, fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, delicious, authentic menu and a nice change of pace surrounded by books and supporting War Child as you go. I stop here often for my caffeine fix and the servers are always friendly and smiling. This alone makes them a winner in my book. That they make a proper-latte-not-flat-white-pretending-to-be-latte, is making them legend.
I was really looking forward to the Middle Eastern French Toast, having spied it before when grabbing takeaway coffee and being a big fan of French toast in general, putting it top of my list to try here ASAP. The toast itself was lovely, and the jam also, thankfully saving the dish from being quite dry. The yoghurt was yellow, had weird brown liquid in it, and tasted a little like curry. There was a dried flower stem (presumably edible, but no pretty petals, just the gnarly dry centre) deposited in the yoghurt. No warm, juicy poached apricots but cold, dried and chewy fig bits and two small pieces of peach that were not sweet and turning brown. My friend had the Damascus and was thoroughly impressed and happy and even asked for more pita to mop the plate which was given gladly...
