Hackney Flea Market — Local services in London

Way too busy, should be ticket based as it’s impossible to move around. Prices are ridiculous, coffee tables for £400, lamps and other small items for £200. Flea markets are meant to be for people that need to get rid of old stuff and for those who can’t afford to buy brand new stuff so they come to these markets to purchase important items such as furniture or kitchen ware, but now that it has turned into a middle class - hipster activity, prices are sky high and it loses completely its purpose and meaning.

EDIT to reply to your very helpful and understanding reply, yes, out of 15 reviews in the past 5 years, 8 of them were positive, I guess you failed to see that. When there is a business I enjoy, I leave reviews in other platforms too, google isn't the only one. Your market is also highly inaccessible for those who are disabled, maybe you would care for that a bit more. The gentrification of this area is strong and this market is a clear example of that, if you don't like what others think of the organization of this place, then don't deal with the reviews and get someone that can be more objective to do so for...

Overrated. Pretentious. Items are no different to what I can find at my mum's house or a thrift/charity shop and they're priced extortionately when you can find them for under a tenner anywhere else. Tiny, plain, low, wood table: 50 pounds. 2ft tall, lightweight corner shelf:45 pounds. 4 dining chairs: 500 pounds. Vase: 35 pounds. Only one stall with some decent jewellery 20-30 pounds

Definitely not a flea market, but a poor attempt at a vintage fair (at least you find some great gems at vintage fairs.) This place made me want to bring things from my own home and charge 3 times the price I would sell them for on FB marketplace. Also, thanks to social media marketing this place is so busy... but the venue is so cramped that you cant even spend time looking at things. Annie Taylor / Gyptian Vintage Although an experienced trader this was my first time to sell at a vintage flea market. Abney Hall where this monthly event is held is a stunning venue in the heart of Stoke Newington Church Street. HFM surpassed my expectations on every level, it was well organised, having an eclectic mix of vintage homeware, jewellery, and clothing sections as well as a record stall. There was a steady stream of customers throughout the weekend which was great for business. By end of closing on Sunday evening I was shattered, however it was worth all the effort.
