This used to be our 'go to' Sunday Roast place 15 years ago. No idea why we stopped going. Time Out placed it 19th in it's top 25 Pub Sunday Roasts. So we booked. What a disappointment. Lovely table in the dining room. Lovely staff serving drinks. Food....it went down hill. I asked for my beef a little beyond medium. It came well done and cold ..... as was most of the food. We sent the first plates back as the strangely black Yorkshire Puddings were stone cold. The food was served on a cold plate. I had the beef. Very salty. Tough. Cold. Not great quality. My partner had the chicken. Skin was wrinkled but not crisp. Tasted OK. The vegetables were awful. Steamed carrots, cabbage and broccoli. Overcooked and cold...maybe due to the cold plates. Roast potatoes were small and hard. Didn't taste fresh. Been kept 'warm' for too long. The cauliflower cheese was good. Maybe lacking in cheese sauce but hot and tasty. A very average Roast. Not really a top 25 in London Roast...Time Out so wrong. We would have tried a Pudding but the table for two next to us suddenly occupied 3 people. The two on the bench seating were obviously in a new relationship and were all over each other and us. No sense of personal space. The pub should have controlled that. Sad to say we won't return.

Classic Victorian pub with excellent Sunday roast and beautiful interiors. I can’t give 5 stars for several reasons though: We waited at the table for around 15 minutes and only were attended when trying to order at the bar. Also, we ordered some croquettes with blue cheese sauce, but there was sauce to barely cover the bottom of the sauce cup (the croquettes were totally worth it anyway). Finally, I ordered a Bloody Mary and came without celery or any salt/pepper around the rim, while others I saw around had sal/pepper 🤷🏻‍♂️. They added 12.5% service charge anyway though, which I think as a general practice is not fair.

I have been coming here for decades. It is has been consistently good to extremely good over the years. It has largely been served well by it's owners of the day (although I think the removal of the bespoke Victorian mirrors behind the bar an absolute crime by the existing owners last year!). Todays visit was fantastic. Really great Sunday lunch. The staff were lovely. I find they always go above and beyond to make one feel looked after. The chef certainly knows his roast meats and cauliflower cheese. Has known beers and regular offers guest beers, so I never get bored. Top local pub.

I've been a Stokey resident for over 25 years and the Three Crowns used to serve great food with good service. Well, sadly, all three crowns have since slipped.

I've even put on nights here some years ago but I think it's changed hands several times since then. We know it's just become a loud LCD drinking place through the week, that's trying to be too many things at once yet succeeded in none, all at once. But we thought they still serve food and we haven't been there for sometime. So let's give it a go. Should have gone with my instincts but gave it a chance.

We called ahead to check the kitchen was still open and we were told that we had half an hour left. We arrived with 15 minutes to spare. Yet when we got there, the bar wasn't busy but the barmaid just sat looking at her laptop and didn't even look up. So we asked the chef who rudely said the kitchen closed one 1 minute ago! When we said we'd called ahead, he just scowled at us. We should have left then but my wife and I were hungry. After finally getting someone's attention, and as there's no table service anymore during the week, we felt so harassed so we chose as quickly as possible and ordered food plus two glasses of house red.

Glasses served were dirty with finger marks across both glasses.

When ordering our burgers, we were never asked how we wanted our burgers cooked! I told the guy behind the bar, yet I didn't come away reassured. When the food arrived, it was a mediocre burger, not hot and 'served' just with reheated chips with a dumped bit of coleslaw. We asked for some condiments and the 'waiter' ( I use that term very loosely) looked like someone's arse had been slapped.

Suddenly the music was turned up so far that we could hardly hear each other speak. The staff just couldn't care less and were discourteous and totally self absorbed. It's seems to be trying to be too many things at once and completely failing in all. I've no idea if they're trying to run it into the ground or not, or whether the staff are mistreated or something. Absolute mystery.

Anyway, please save your money. There are so many better places to go in Stoke Newington. Hate to say this but we're never going there again unless it changes hands with people who want to serve well with passion and present the pub with love and TLC. It was a great place once. It's so sad really.

DON'T BOTHER. YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

The only good thing I can say is it has real plants. Not sure if that says much though based on...

I went there with a group of friends after a meal at Babel Art House. we got our first drinks and someone told us the place was going to close soon but we can go downstairs bar open until 4:30am. We (a group of 5 friends) went down and stayed there for 15 mins. Then, we wanted to get more drinks, and it was my round so I went to the bar. I waited for around 10 mins and I was the last on the queue. When it was my turn to order, someone (an English guy) got in front of me so fast but before he ordered his drink, I told the barmaid 'excuse me I was before him' and he looked at me and said 'yes he was before me'. But for some reason, the barmaid called the security and at that time my friends and I were trying to explain what happened when the security arrived. I asked the guy who went in front of me to explain to the security that I was before him but by then I was pushed out of the bar and told that they wanted to talk to me outside. I explained to the security guards what happened but they told me to leave. I asked why? They told me I was 'on the wrong'. I explained to them what happened and asked them what they meant by 'being on the wrong'? But they pushed me and my friends and told us to 'move'. The security people were very aggressive and didn't wanted to hear what we wanted to say. I have never experienced such degrading treatment in my life. The reason I think this happened to me is because of my background. I cannot explain it otherwise. I was there as a customer and did not in any way cause any trouble nor was I ever aggressive towards anyone. I could not understand what I was treated in that way. To the barmaid who called the security: you have no right to destroy my night! The guy you chose to serve before me told you that I was before him and it was my turn. Honestly, I just don't understand why you called the security. Shame on you! The reason I am writing this is I am so angry because of the treatment I and my friends have received and you have no right to make me suffer. To the management of The Three Crowns, I was going to spend around £60 on drinks and because of your #racist stuff I was not able to. In a place like #Stokenewington, I think it is a disgrace that you employ such idiots and bigots. Can you inform the public what will you do about this...

Ok so straight of the bat we eat out a lot and one of my bugbears is pubs that fancy themselves as restaurants, it like Luton airport calling itself Luton London Airport, a bit of a desperate stab at being a bit more upmarket.

We went along for a family Sunday lunch /birthday yesterday we were a large group of 15 adults and children. We also had a small but well behaved dog which we were initially told would be fine as long as she was under the table.

The group had been seated in the “restaurant” area which is a small area by the open kitchen directly in front of the cold draft every time the front door opened. The soft furnishings are worn and heavily stained, as you would expect from any London boozer.

On arrival we were told that our dog could not sit with us, no alternative was offered by the staff, this left us with the option of A:Not sitting with the party that we had come to join or B:Our dog sit the other side of the bannister that separates the areas. Our poor pug didn’t understand why so my wife had to spend the whole meal stopping her from trying to wiggle through to join us. See picture. :(

I voiced my dismay with the staff who could not have been less interested/bothered, eventually speaking to the manager who was condescending to say the least offered me no apology for their mix up nor a solution ie another table.

We ate the vegan wellington which was good but Luke warm, the potatoes were over cooked and we weren’t asked about the meal at any point by the waitress.

If you are going to claim to be a restaurant I’m going to expect that level of service and customer care, the group spent in excess of £500 on the meal and we were left sitting in dirty plates for 20 minutes after everyone had finished and the children waited another 20minutes for basic ice cream to arrive, I think they had a cheek to put on service charge, and we were fools for paying it.

Note to the owners, don’t try to be a jack of all trades as you will end up as a master of none, nightclub/pub/restaurant come on! Sort your staffs attitude out, we’ve eaten at some of the best restaurants that offer dog friendly dinning without any bs about allergies as if a wooden bannister is going...
