Babel Open Mic — Local services in London

Absolutely brilliant - the best open mic in London IMO, and I've been to a few :) I've been going there since... um, late 2018, wow! There's always a wonderful atmosphere - the last one (16 Feb 2023) was incredible, with the audience singing and clapping along to every act they could! It's a community, but it's not cliquey - there are new acts on every time, and Oz the host has built up a very welcoming, inclusive, and special event. I'm a spoken word poet who hadn't performed in years. I chose this venue to perform again for the first time and went alone in case I bombed. Everyone was super friendly and the sense of an open, kind community was real. Oz was a great host and both he and James were great at communicating prior to the event. The café part of the venue was very warm and welcoming - great food and drinks. The performance space was separate - a full room with a decent set-up and great energy. I've heard of this open mic from the East London music scene. Went there on the 1st July and I can easily say its the best open mic I've ever been to. all performers are treated as equals and you feel the hard work that is put into the whole event. it is in a proper performance venue so people dont talk over on performers, everyone is so respectful and there is so much talent and enthusiasm.
