Nestled along North End Road in Fulham, Abugida stands as a beacon of authentic Ethiopian cuisine and exemplary hospitality. My recent visit (28/10/2025) was nothing short of exceptional, marked by a harmonious blend of culinary excellence and heartfelt service.
From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the establishment was palpable not only in the ambience but in the genuine attentiveness of the staff. In particular, our server, Beki, deserves special commendation. Her demeanour was unfailingly polite, friendly, and refreshingly honest. She demonstrated an intuitive grasp of our preferences and offered recommendations with precision and care. Her ability to tailor suggestions to our tastes was remarkable, reflecting both deep product knowledge and a sincere commitment to customer satisfaction. The service she provided was unequivocally five-star, and her professionalism elevated the entire dining experience.
The food itself was a triumph. Each dish arrived promptly, beautifully presented, and served at the ideal temperature warm and inviting, ready to be savoured. The flavours were rich, balanced, and unmistakably Ethiopian, showcasing the restaurant’s dedication to culinary authenticity. It was evident that great care had been taken in both preparation and presentation. (Teg was well over priced, £10 for small ብርሌ that was kind off rip off). Except that little blip, Abugida is, by all measures, the finest Ethiopian restaurant in the United Kingdom. Its commitment to quality, cultural integrity, and outstanding service sets it apart by a considerable margin. For those seeking a genuine taste of Ethiopia paired with gracious hospitality, Abugida is an unequivocal...
Read moreWe were Overwhelmed by ABUGIDA (አቡጊዳ) We have always been thinking visiting ABUGIDA for some time but never get the chance as we live the other side of the city. Finally, we made it; thanks to the effort of our great friend Abe. When we arrived at the place, we were impressed by the overall look, atmosphere and reception at the restaurant. It is modern with simple and elegant layout, and one can easily see how far the owners gone into great length to provide this restaurant a chic, contemporary and fresh look. The restaurant is decorated sparsely with great Ethiopian art tradition which gives the place a very worm and relaxed setting. AS Abugida is a very clean and inviting place, we did not expend much time to order and enjoy their popular food. As we expected the food was simply amazing. The lamb tibs and the Godden tibs were so tender and testy both were cooked to absolute perfection. The Shuro wot made our meal all the journey worth a while. As their menu is ambitious and tempting, we cannot wait to return soon and try their other foods. We cannot recommend Abugida highly...
Read moreI ordered Doro which cost £16. The sauce was bitter and the traditional chilli paste lacked the authentic herbal aroma and flavour. The dish arrived with one piece of chicken drumstick 🍗 and one egg. There was a lot of sauce, but as I said because it tasted very bitter one couldn’t eat much of it. The injeerah portion wasn’t generous either compared to other places.
I called the restaurant and I told the person who answered the phone my above feedback, and he promised to improve this dish which is quintessentially an Ethiopian and Eritrean dish popular with food lovers of all backgrounds. I am ex chef so I know exactly what I’m talking about. Chicken is not as expensive as lamb and beef, but beef and lamb dishes are generally very generous, so this is puzzling 🧐 and annoying me a bit given the price.
Top mark for customer service. He was courteous, pleasant and listened to my feedback...
