Afrikana Restaurant Kingston — Restaurant in London

I visited Afrikaana yesterday for lunch. The restaurant was quiet, with only two tables occupied, yet the service was slow and unwelcoming. The waiter seemed uninterested and gave the impression that any request was a bother.

We ordered a burger, which was enjoyable, and a rice dish with mixed vegetables, chicken, and prawns. The food didn’t even arrive together each dish came out separately, which made the dining experience feel disorganised. The rice dish was extremely disappointing: the chicken and prawns were so tough and dry they were almost impossible to chew clearly reheated and the dish was far spicier than expected, despite being told it would be medium.

At no point did the waiter check on us, ask if we wanted sauces, or engage in any way. When we asked for the bill, there was no offer of dessert or coffee. The overall service was inattentive and indifferent.

To add to the poor experience, a service charge was automatically included in the bill. Frankly, I’m not sure how they can justify charging for service that...

I had an amazing experience at Afrikana! From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. Our waiter, Geeth, was extremely polite, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. He recommended the Curried Goat, and I have to say — it was absolutely incredible. Honestly, it’s probably the best Curried Goat I’ve had outside of my mum’s kitchen, which says a lot!

The flavors were rich, the meat was perfectly tender, and the portion size was just right. Geeth’s recommendation really made the meal special, and his service throughout was spot-on — friendly without being overbearing.

I highly recommend Afrikana to anyone looking for delicious food, great atmosphere, and top-notch service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The service was atentive and friendly, with staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. Our waitress rahina was so lovely and It’s clear they take pride in what they do, and it made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
