UPDATE: They have made significant improvements and now I LOVE this place!

We had some big problems that we hope are just normal opening issues due to it being a new restaurant. I ordered a special Cornetto, but they gave me one from the counter that was NOT what I ordered at all - but I didn't realise this until we got the bill. A friend ordered the Avo, but it didn't come with an egg despite it being under the "Eggs" column which just doesn't make any sense at all... It doesn't say that it comes with an egg, but the Brontë doesn't say that it comes with eggs, but it does indeed come with eggs. We asked the server about this, and he first tried to say it just doesn't come with an egg but then he made it seem like he was going to bring out an egg anyways... But just never did. The Brontë and Benedict had eggs, but they were properly cold as if they had been cooked at some earlier time and just put in the fridge before serving. This is in direct contradiction to what's written on their menu about everything being cooked to order. The orange juice was INCREDIBLY expensive for such a small glass of orange juice. It was incredibly difficult to communicate with one of the servers. The bill came out with one of the drinks double charged.

Now for the pros - when we pointed out the double charging and cold eggs to the server (that we could communicate with), she very kindly gave us an almost 25% discount (though the new bill literally did not add up correctly, which surely should not be possible to do). The coffees were all very good, especially the pistachio latte. The food generally seemed very good quality (despite the cold or missing eggs), and we have high hopes that they...

I live in the area and have visited often. I previously tried their pizzas and they were delicious. Such a disappointment when yesterday I discovered that they had changed their menu..we ordered 2 pizzas expecting the same quality. In fact, the pizzas were not as they used to be at all. We got pizzas about 1/3 of the size they previously were and while in the past for a normal sized pizza we'd pay about 15£...these were about 17£ ( for a smaller size and not Italian style at all!!) please bring back your lovely pizzas -especially the prosciutto one. Very, very disappointed since I had advertised this place to my friend and he really had no idea why when he had his pizza...! I only thought of taking a photo after I'd slided the pizza in 4 small pieces and had 2. The rest was thrown away. Compare to previous reviews with pics and you can tell...£32 for this quality and size is simply not excusable or decent. I read a reply to another customer from the owner on the same issue and I can honestly say that the argument for changing your menu really doesn't make sense to me. No customers would prefer this style of pizza in an Italian restaurant...as it is not Italian. So I wonder, with all your perfect reviews on your pizzas previously, why did you even decide to experiment with a...

So, the food was decent. We had a posh sourdough cheese and ham toastie and a margarita pizza and I have to say it was pretty tasty. We chose carefully and so it wasn’t too expensive. However, the menu overall remains on the pricey side. If we’d had all we wanted, it would have turned out to be expensive.

We were, however, disappointed with the service. Not as friendly as other reviewers have experienced. In addition, they had run out of Moretti on tap and only had Brixton IPA (and I’m not a fan of the floral/sour American style beers). They had also run out of bottles of Peroni, which my wife wanted, and the bottles of Moretti weren’t very cold. So we didn’t have any drinks. I have to say, I think it’s pretty poor for a venue to run out of drinks and not have really cold beers on a Saturday afternoon. Anyway, the beer was West End prices (£7.20 a pint) so we saved ourselves a fortune.

Really hope this place ups its game as it could be a winner...

Nice place and very well presented. Staff are friendly. However, one issue with this place are the prices. Food and soft drinks for example are massively overpriced. We paid £6.00 for a simple glass of orange juice and nearly £14 for a sausage and mozzarella sandwich!! It is completely unnecessary to charge this amount for a glass of orange juice and a sandwich. Overall we had two sandwiches, a coffee, and an orange juice and the bill came just shy of £30, this is a complete crazy amount to charge for these products. Another example is it’s £10 for scrambled eggs on toast or a plain omelette. Whilst I appreciate this is venue is much better presented than a normal cafe, these charges are excessive and they should consider reviewing these prices as we won’t be back with prices like this on the menu.
