We used the Anchor as our watering hole in the evening while taking part in Challenge 72. Absolutely loved it there, the staff are great and really friendly as were the locals. We were made to feel extremely welcome by all. It's proper old school boozer, one that we'll defiantly be returning to. On behalf of everyone on team Challenge 72 thank you for your hospitality. We'll be back (once we're allowed back out to play).

You know what, stopped I here after a work mixup, ended up chatting to the General Manager as it was quiet in the day. I ended up staying much longer and dragging a few colleagues out to meet me here in the end. Would highly recommend. Everyone I met was polite and friendly, The Manager Jack was very down to earth and entertaining. Clean, not expensive and very enjoyable.

The Anchor is a delightful estate pub, bit quiet on my visit. However, most welcoming, fun, great service and a wonderful feeling about the place. A most enjoyable visit. I am happy.

Biggest SCAM ever, very unprofessional. Walked in on Saturday night for dinner to be told there was no food because a Brasilian party was going on. The manager in duty offered though to give us brasilian snacks from the party to try. She served us a tiny plate of snacks while we were still deciding if we wanted to stay to drink only. At that point then we accepted the snack and ordered a drink only to find out on the bill that she was charging us 18 pounds for 2 pints!

Asked the other staff if we had paid for food and she said it was free as it came frok the party buffet. The manager came to us saying it actually wasn't free but it was an arbitrary TEN pounds. Shocking as we hadn't even ordered it! Totally arbitrary price for something she had offered us!

Huge disappointment and AWFUL service, so...

This used to be a lovely local family pub. It's recently changed management who seen to be driving it into the ground. They've stopped showing the live football matches and if you want food in there forget it. The new chef only lasted a week before walking out. Very few regulars there any more as they now to go another local as everyone so unhappy with the management.

The barmaids are lovely and cannot be faulted. An asset to the pub. But as a resident on the same road as the pub, I won't be going back in there whilst this new lady manager is still running it.

What a real shame for the...

Me and a few friends stayed in the travelodge opposite in december we had a long train journey up from wales and we were a bit nervous about calling in the first local pub we seen. But we risked it for a biscuit and called in here and we felt at home instantly reminded us of our local pub back home so much in fact when we are returning to london on the 18th of october all three of us instantly said book the same hotel as last time so we can go back to that pub that sold the amazing food and had the fun irish man behind the bar!. Brilliant service top food and top beverages as well as...
