I am insulted by the service at angel curry centre. Admittedly, we arrived at restaurant late, although not too soon before closing time. Before I could even take off my coat and step into the empty restaurant I was confronted by a very ignorant and rude waiter who told me we would have to be in and out very very quickly. We sat down, with OUR bottle of wine and immediately there was a commotion and we were very aggressively asked for identification, we then proceeded to show our identification we were continued to be questioned and STARED AT. We felt extremely upset and dehumanised by being gawped at in such a manner. When the food arrived, my upset only turned into distress. We had ordered a very simple and small order which they failed to get right. If you're eating here and looking for a 'cheese' naan I suggest bringing your own cheese as it was non existent. The rice was artificial and rainbow and the chicken was tasteless and grizzly. Don't even get me started on the chocolate but beware. Very very disappointed and utterly...
Read moreHaving had the great fortune of having plenty of home cooked Indian, Pakistani, Bahraini, etc, etc food before, I am certain this is the 2nd best Indian restaurant I have eaten at in the UK. It's our favorite Indian/curry restaurant, and we go there frequently now, especially because the food doesn't have a layer of greasy oil on top. They have so many good dishes, it's a bit of decision when we go, so make sure you mix up what you eat if you go several times.
The menu has a great variety, but not ridiculous like some Brick Lane restaurants. We took a picky eater there on one occasion, the staff didn't hesitate to offer to swap and combine ingredients, spice level to deliver what they wanted to eat.
The staff are exceptionally kind, friendly and attentive. Make sure to book for Thursday to Saturday or you will be disappointed!
Oh yes, this is BYOB... and such delicious food!
By the way, forget Brick Lane, this restaurant, like most, is better than Brick Lane...
Read moreWow!!! My partner and I ate at The Angel Curry Centre this week. The food was excellent. You can bring your own wine/ beer which cuts the bill down considerably which is brilliant considering the cost of living. I even had lunch the next day because of the huge left overs. The waiters and chefs, they have two, Ahmed Koxes who has been there for 30 years and Nizam Uddin Ovek who has been there 22years were just lovely. Their amazing waiter gave us a full history lesson on Indian, Pakistani and Bengali relations! What a fabulous gem in Chapel Market Angel....
