Ark Fish Restaurant — Restaurant in London

I have been coming to this restaurant up to a few years back on a regular basis. I then had a bad experience and haven't been for 3 years. Today I wanted to give the restaurant a fresh review hoping that my poor experience from the past would be forgotten. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. We had grilled Haddock that was dry and over-cooked. We also had Plaice. Again, poorly cooked. The service was poor. We weren't even asked if the meal was ok. For a Friday night, the restaurant was no where near capacity, making the atmosphere there rather dull. For 4 of us, the meal was over £200. Not what I would call 'value for money!' I definitely can not recommend the restaurant and will not be going back there again...

28/7: I have had to add this part since receiving a response from the Ark... To the person who wrote the response: GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT! The person who re-ordered the Haddock (it was ordered to come with no butter, but it did), re-ordered Haddock (fried). You MUST be confusing us with another unhappy party. We never ordered cod as a replacement. Also, we were never asked at any time, how our meal was. There were 4 of us, 3 of the party experienced poorly cooked fish. This was evident by what was left on their plates. So, don't give me an inaccurate response giving inaccurate facts and instead concentrate on providing good quality food and give customers the quality they deserve for the high prices you charge. Also, don't confuse me with other dissatisfied customers and stick to the facts. If you'd like me to take this further, I'm happy to ask my daughter to post on Social Media. Trust me me I don't leave reviews lightly but I have been given no choice Tina the manager was quite nice when I arrived and a tall blond waitress was wonderful I started with scampi that was very nice I then had battered Cod and chips I have eaten alot of Cod and chips in my life and know good cod and chips When I ate the first mouthful something seemed wrong the flavour was not great but passable, more of the issue was there was alot of moisture between the flakes given a kind of slimey texture I spoke to the waitress who was great and explained that ill eat it and pay for it. She then took a piece to the chef who said nothing was wrong. However the waitress who I give 10 out 10 looked at the fish and said she could visibly see what I meant and basically offered to change it I explained don't worry it's edible. I went outside to have a cigarette. Being a builder I notice some wood rot in the windows and thought I'll let Tina know. When Tina came to see me I thought I would mention the fish because I wondered what could cause too much moisture in the flakes She would not try it and just had an attitude. I explained I don't want refund or a replacement She would not accept there was an issue and was very blasé about the issue There was an under tone in her manner of sarcasm. First time I went there and was looking forward to it. Staff not that friendly even though it was quiet. I wanted a kids meal as I wasn't hungry. She tells me she's not allowed to sell it to me, but will do it but then I dont get the drink. I said fine. She gave my son a tiny cup of coke as part of his kids meal. Would be appropriate for a toddler. My son is 11 and the kids menu is meant to suit up to 12 year old. Very stingy. Then after having the mains she only got ice cream for my son as part of his meal and not mine. She said she can't give it even though I'm paying full price for kids meal. So I only got the main in the kids meal and no dessert or drink. She never said this before, she only said I wont get drink. Didn't mention the ice cream. If you pay then why can they not give it? Never had this before, I've bought kids meal in other restaurent many times and it should not bother them if you are paying for it. It's up to me on the quantity I want to eat. They get many older customers who I'm sure cannot stomach a large adult meal too. They are just trying to make money by forcing you to buy a large meal when you don't want it. Rip offs.
