Railway Bell — Restaurant in London

Over 50 years ago my dad met my mum here - she was working behind the bar. This brilliant pub has been my dad’s local for the last few years and he waxes lyrical about the staff and the venue. Even though we live locally, I’d never been in there until today - to remember mum on the anniversary of her death. The kindness that the staff show my dad on an almost daily basis is what makes you think humans are actually ok. He’s not easy yet they understand. A huge shout out to the landlady- you are the very best of people. The drinks are extensive and well kept, the menu simply great pub fayre. Inside is cosy - not in the small sense, but in the ‘you know you’re in a local’ sense. Really pretty garden area. Sports available but not intrusive. It isn’t a fake nasty review just to let you know. We did said we had BRP cards, which is officially given by the Uk govt. to us (international students), we don’t have no other id’s than that. Also, you did check my BRP card, also you did serve me the previous day. Where did the photos of Id came from? QWe said photos of passport, & the bartender walked away. The same guy denied us, we didn’t felt welcome like the day before. So, not professional. Just after we went back, we called our GM saying about the incident. Im genuinely nominating this the worst Sunday roast I’ve ever had. Dried as crisp beef slices/blocks, they were obviously heated up in the oven for too long. They are impossible to cut or chew. The carrots were cooked and frozen then heated again. Yorkshire puddings were heated to stiff-also impossible to cut or chew. My husband and I left with empty bellies and big disappointments.

On top of everything, when I asked the waitress for some ice for my cider, she told me to go into the bar to get it myself. And I was clearly busy trying to look after my little baby sitting on my lap.
