I’m here visiting the UK from the US - I needed a quick dinner on the go and I stopped by Bagelbuzz based on the reviews.
The salted beef caught my eye because it had mustard and “gherkins” - I assumed the gherkins were equivalent to “dill pickles” in the US. The poor guy at the counter didn’t know how to describe “salted beef” an American who has zero idea what type of beef they mean, and he had no idea what I meant by “dill pickles” either - he did say yes if I asked if the pickles were vinegar based so I figured I was safe - I ordered the sandwich and hoped I liked “salted beef” 🤣
They were very quick to produce my sandwich. Turns out “salted beef” is (or is very close) to what we’d call “corned beef” in the US. It was deliciously flavored nicely cut and no fat. I had them use the “English” spicy mustard (yum) and the “gherkins” are in fact dill pickles. The baguette was also perfect inside and out.
I’m so pleasantly surprised by this little unassuming shop. I wish I weren’t leaving tomorrow so I could go back for this...
Read moreWhy do you have an ordering screen for such a small venue? It feels dystopian. Just take the orders like a human being.
I went here earlier today, knowing fully well what I wanted. I don't know if it was my dyslexia or if the terminal had a bug—in all fairness, it could have been the former—but I wanted a tuna melt, which I could see on the menu. Instead of simply taking my order, there is just a screen where you order. No hello, no interaction.
I received my order and said, "Oh, I thought I ordered a tuna melt." I took the loss, but I got the impression this might have happened before because the person who gave me the food was quick to suggest that she could show me it was my mistake.
The food was 2/5—not terrible, but not amazing. The service was the nail in the coffin. Honestly, guys, I get that customer service is hard.but tere is no need to order from a screen when your venue is 3 square meters. Just take the order like a human and have an actual...
Read moreNot really authentic salt beef....but lots of it...
Popped into 'Bagelbuzz' today... Ordered Salt beef (Assured it was cooked on site), with gherkin and mayonnaise.
Lots of meat, but when I went to eat it, there had been crushed chillies added. I called the shop (at 15.02) to explain that this had rendered the bagel inedible. Apparently, they "Just add it". I politely let the professional know that crushed chillies are not part of salt beef cooking/garnish. I also let him know that salt beef on the menu board does not state "Chillies added". Make up your own mind...but it was disappointing and it cost £6.... and I don't wish to be contacted and offered another bagel, I don't live in that area.
In reply to the owner, not adding chillies to salt beef is not a dietary requirement. I have added my Google Reviews as hopefully potential customers will see how you handled this complaint...not very well and no...
