Batch & Co Coffee SW16 (Streatham) — Restaurant in London

Don’t pay until you’ve had your order, you may want a refund. I don’t believe the food was done incorrectly, the quality was just sub-par - that is apart from the ‘hash puffs’ that I had that were completely underdone. Upon asking for them to be cooked a bit more, the waiter put his hand into the pot of them on my table and felt them with his fingers and agreed, he then poured all of them back in the fryer (?!). As an apology, we then got given 2 slices of cake at the end instead of one, as ‘it was nearing the end anyway’, I’d have preferred the 1 good that we ordered rather than trying to get through 2 dry slices. Atmosphere was lacking in clearly a cheap fit-out attempt with rustic nods, but no togetherness to it at all. Yes, I’m picky where I eat so if you like nice places, go somewhere else. I was visiting my friend in London and stumbled across the little batch! I had previously visited their other branch a couple of years ago and was really impressed. I tried their focaccia sandwich which was absolutely divine, and a hot flat white was just what I needed after getting caught in the rain. I bumped into the owner whilst waiting for my coffee and she told me all about the new shop that has literally just opened. I think it is testament to her that she has managed to steer her coffee shop through such a hard time over the past year or so in Covid times and come out fighting and landed back on her feet! What a find. I was running late, I was soaked from the rain and I was feeling stressed and overwhelmed. I took the quick decision to dive into this little place to ‘re-group’ myself without really knowing what it was apart from coffee. What a sanctuary! The staff were so sweet, noticing my stress and rallied around me with paper towels to dry off and were swift with my order for coffee and a delicious toastie.
