From the moment of walking through the door, I was welcomed warmly as a solo diner, and very quickly seated too!

The staff are young, enthusiastic, considerate and lovely, whilst offering great advice on the cuisine. It was my first visit, so it was all very new.

My initial waiter provided a menu of allergens, to suit my research regarding what can trigger me with food allergies.

The waitress who took my order carefully explained to me that the Shrimp Shack Original consists of grilled prawns, which sounded appealing. Now, the sauces… I opted for the Cajun sauce (there are other sauces too), which is poured over the prawns. There is the option to have your grilled prawns left unsauced, which is the choice of the SS Rub, and that is accompanied by one separate dip on the side (lemon butter, garlic butter or peri peri). I was struggling to understand, and my waitress very patiently explained the difference with the two options. I went for sides of chips and stir fry vegetable.

When my order arrived, the prawns abd homemade Cajun sauce were divine!!! The sauce is slightly spice, and I found it to a hade an ever slight kick, but that is because I just cannot handle hot and spicy food 🙊.

The stir fry vegetables were a bit cold for my liking and when I mentioned this to a passing waitress, she quickly and proactively brought me an additional portion and waited for me to test the temperature.. as she could tell it was still not warm enough for me, she went back to get it reheated. I am so appreciative she did this!!!

They also forgot my tap water and boy was I thirsty!! The same waitress brought me my tap water too. As I had requested the water three times, together with being very thirsty, I was not best pleased. However, the waitress and manager’s demeanour were so helpful and pleasant that I later apologised for my slightly irate tone.the team were super busy, with queues stretching outside for awaiting new diners; so I could understand.

The chips and vegetables came with a dusting of spice, and a wedge of lemon was part of the prawn finale.

The food was delicious! As much as I adore prawns, I found 15 Princes to be a lot to eat in one go that day, so boxed it up as a delectable takeaway.

For those who know how to eat and prepare prawns, these prawns were cleaned impeccably with the intestine taken out. Crunching on the prawn heads was continually salivating until the next bite!

The chips were actual chips not fries, and oven cooked/fried well. (Just so you know… The frozen variety, not hand cut).

The food was served with disposable gloves and a bib (which I needed because I decided to wear white that day!🤦🏽‍♀️). The mini bucket which the gloves were brought to me in doubles up for disposal of the prawn shells.

The restaurant is clean, with a lovely and vibrant ambience that is actually not lacking in providing calm.

There are plenty of non-prawn seafood offerings, as well as meat dishes and vegetarian enticements too; but do try to stick to seafood if you are able to.. after all, they are a seafood specialist.

I am so glad that I visited today. It was a special day for me (which I did not share with the staff), but the staff made it special even though they did not know!

A warm thank you to the splendid and warm staff team whom were...

I’d been wanting to try Shrimp Shack for a while and finally got the chance to visit. It’s one of the few proper seafood boil restaurants around, so I was quite excited.

We ordered the Classic Seafood Boil for 2, which came with shrimp, mussels, sausage, crab, 2 boiled eggs, and sweetcorn. Portion size was decent and about what you’d expect for seafood at that price point. I really liked that the shrimp were already butterflied, which made them easier to eat, but I did feel they were slightly overcooked with a mushy texture, I prefer a little more firmness. The sausages were underwhelming, tasting quite processed, and there were hardly any on the platter (only 2–3 small pieces each). The crab felt a bit disappointing too, it was maybe just under half a crab, quite skinny in size, so there wasn’t much meat to enjoy. Flavour-wise, it was fairly generic: sweet with that stringy texture, but nothing memorable. I think if the boil sauce had been different, I might have enjoyed it more. On top of that, I was disappointed with the sauce overall: instead of the classic spicy Cajun seasoning, it came in a creamy sauce that felt more suited to pasta, lacking depth and a little too thick. Overall, nothing on the boil really stood out in flavour.

On the positive side, the restaurant itself looked great, modern, stylish, and fun. The staff were fantastic too, very polite and attentive from the moment we walked in.

After the main, we had desserts, apple crumble with custard and a chocolate soufflĂŠ. Both were delicious, especially the crumble, which had a buttery pastry base with caramelised apples that worked really well. The soufflĂŠ was a safe but tasty choice. Definitely worth ordering a dessert here.

Overall, I’d say Shrimp Shack is fairly priced and a good option for a casual outing, whether solo or with family. While the seafood boil sauce, sausages, crab, and slightly overcooked shrimp didn’t quite hit the mark for me, the atmosphere, service, and desserts made the...

Staff were very friendly and helpful from the door to the table. Service was very fast .

I really liked the idea of paying for the meal before receiving the food, just like Nando’s but because they don’t give receipt, you can forget in conversation what wasn’t brought to the table or there’s no proof of purchase you can show as what was paid for. I ordered chicken wings £7.00, as starter and just realised we didn’t eat chicken wings, which you can see in the pictures I post. Make sure to get a receipt as service is sometimes forgetful.

The decor is very nice and it seemed very clean too. I didn’t use the toilet at this time so I can’t give a comment there. The staff all were very helpful and quick.

Food So I had the mix platter with has a mixture of lamb chops, fried chicken, some fried prawn and a fried vegetable looking like a zucchini. Overall, I felt it was a little too salty and dry.

I ordered chicken wings as starters and it didn’t come, no receipt given after payment so if you’re not watchful with a large group, you’ll forget the little orders that didn’t come. We spent over £100+.

The prawns were nice but the lamb chops were too tough and had too much salt. The chips were okay and the sauce that the mix platter came with was nice. Overall, I wouldn’t come again.

Parking was also difficult, I had to park on the road near grace field practice which is like a 15-20 min walk which I came with my 17month daughter, it’s best to get the bus if coming to Streatham...
