Lobito Grill — Restaurant in London

After reading great reviews, my husband and I recently visited Lobito grill for a date night, expecting a memorable experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. First, we were disappointed to learn that the prawns the dush we came for, needed to be pre-ordered and were unavailable — something that hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. The restaurant opens at 5pm and tge prawns were finished by 7:30pm.

We also ordered the prego roll, expecting an authentic Portuguese-style dish, but it was underwhelming. Instead of a flavorful sandwich, it was just a small, dry baguette with a plain piece of steak, cut in half with little seasoning. No salad or sauce. The grilled chicken was equally disappointing, lacking flavor as it seemed like a hot sauce was only added during grilling, rather than being marinated beforehand for depth of taste.

To add to our concerns, we later learned that pork is cooked on the same grill, which could be an issue for those observing a halal diet, although we were assured it is cleaned before handling halal orders. Service was also slow and disinterested, with long waits despite the restaurant being relatively empty. The salad was the only highlight of the meal. This is the real deal if you're into genuine Portugese food; it's magnificent. We live locally in Streatham and had heard great things about Lobito Grill. Having just come back from a holiday in Portugal, we were eager to try it and my goodnes it didn't disappoint. We had the steak with egg and chips, alongside the authentic piri piri sauce and it was delicious. The meat was so tender and the sauce was unlike anything I've ever had (please bottle it!). I have always walked past Lobito Grill but never eaten there, until yesterday evening. We had to wait an hour for the food, but when the dishes were served, it was worth waiting for.... The rice, chips, steak and chicken was very delicious and I was satisfied with the large portions. The service was impeccable and the staff were very warm and friendly, and not only it is a family friendly Restaurant, the Chef once he was finished in the Kitchen came up to the Restaurant to chat with his customers, that was really nice.
