Overly crowded, loud and not the kind of crowd one would want to mingle or socialise with - is what I honestly think.
I went there about a week before Christmas to wait for a few friends, who were supposed to meet me at Spitalfields Market. They were getting delayed and said "let's meet at Be At One."
I arrived and saw lots of people smoking outside, so I decided to go in and order a drink, then wait for my friends.
There was a female security guard outside. Quite large build, dark hair tied back. Caucasian, a bit short. She didn't ask me anything and she was just standing there, so I just went in.
The place was way too crowded. Over-crowded, I think. Never a good sign. Loud music, and although I was the only one standing at the bar to order, the Barman didn't even look at me and went about clearing things, moving stuff etc. I tried to get his attention, and he saw me but decided to continue what he was doing. This kind of attitude is never good. "I'll come to you once I've finished what I am doing. So you have to wait!" - is what he was basically saying. He should serve the customer first and then continue doing his tasks. Like most venues, the management obviously hasn't provided the staff basic training in customer services.
As I was waiting to order a drink another customer sat by the window waved at me, then pointed at the window/glass pane.
The security guard was signalling me to come outside, which I thought was rude, as she should have come inside and asked me to come outside. But I guess these people don't know manners and etiquette anyway! Probably not even trained properly before being put on the job as security companies, like a lot of other companies, don't want to spend money on training.
Anyway.... I went outside, and she said "No Single Entry!" and when I was about to tell her that I was going to wait for friends, she again, very loudly this time... said "NO SINGLE ENTRY!!!" and before I could say anything, just turned away from me and started talking to someone else.
No Single Entry is blatant discrimination. They should not be allowed to do that! I'm part of the local community that lives in the neighbourhood and am involved with local societies as well as local government. I am going to look in to this and see how this issue can be raised.
No Single Entry? Ironic, don't you think, given you're named Be At "One!"
I was angry at the way I was treated. I will not tolerate discrimination in any way, shape or form. Why let me walk-in, in the first place? Just then, my friends arrived. We could have now gone in, but I decided against it and persuaded them to come to my place instead, getting some wine on the way and then we can have take-away food. Better way to spend an evening with friends than in an overly-crowded bar which clearly puts profit before customer service by cramming in as many people as possible. Plus the rude staff! No, Thank You. I'll spend my money elsewhere. And I shall tell all the neighbours and locals I know, NOT to go...
Read moreGot there early and waited for them to open. Went in and asked for 2 pina coladas'. The girl behind the bar smirked and said, 'We don't do'. I waited for further explanation, but none came. As that's the only cocktail my wife drinks, we left.
This is a cocktail bar that doesn't do pina colada's. If you like your pina colada's, this is not the place for you. If you like your pina colada maker to be an unempathetic, smoothbrained dullard, you are halfway there - because they don't do pina colada's.
She could have made something up - 'Sorry we've run out of pineapple juice, of coconut milk, of booze, of unicorn sp*nk', anything would have been fine...
But no, it just seems that Be At One Spitalfields don't do pina coladas. A classic cocktail. They don't do. How cool is that?!
Reading other reviews, it seems we weren't the only ones to be totally unimpressed with the customer service of one female member of their staff.
Clearly the owner isn't fussed about it, so if you like your cocktails served with a sneer, this is the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting this cocktail bar and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and welcoming staff especially name to be mentioned General manager Pier Paolo who made me feel right at home.
The ambiance of the bar was fantastic - dim lighting, cozy seating, and a great selection of music playing in the background. The decor was also top-notch, with a stylish and modern design that added to the overall atmosphere.
But let's talk about the cocktails. Oh my goodness, the cocktails were absolutely delicious. Each one was expertly crafted and beautifully presented. The bartenders clearly knew what they were doing and were able to recommend the perfect drink based on my preferences.
Overall, I had a fantastic experience at this cocktail bar and I can't wait to go back. Whether you're looking for a great place to grab drinks with friends or a cozy spot for a date night, this cocktail bar is definitely worth checking out. I highly...
