One of my favourite places to go for coffee and cake. The coffee is good and strong (they will make it with fewer espresso shots on request if you're of a sensitive disposition). The cakes and pastries are always fabulous and indulgent. The prices run a little bit on the higher side, but personally I believe it's worth it for the quality of the food. Decided to support a local business by purchasing Shipton Mills flour from Blackbird at £2 for a kilogram (I would normally order directly from Shipton Mills for less than £1/kg). Obviously it was a popular offering because, when I went to purchase another bag today, Blackbird have increased the price to £2.50. I enquired as to why and was told the significant packaging costs warrant the increase. Sorry but how much does a paper bag cost? Taking advantage of the local community during a pandemic is not on!...

If I had eaten it in the shop rather than bought it to take home I would have asked for a refund. I donāt know if it was stale but it was a weird, very dry, crumbly texture. It sort of turned to dust in my mouth. It was not very gingery but thatās more of a personal taste thing and would have been forgivable if the cake had been even slightly moist....
