Tonight, (21/03/17), I went to the Cherry Tree for dinner, this is the first time I have choose to eat at the Pub. When I walked in there was one lady behind the bar and a number of customers waiting to be served. I went to the restaurant area expecting to see someone and there was nobody there. In order to try get some service I attracted the attention of one of the Chefs. Whilst I did so another lady appeared behind me asking what I wanted? I explained that I wanted to eat, (surprise), and sat down at a table. The lady brought over a menu and said, in not a particularly nice way, "you order at the bar"
I went to the bar and both ladies were now there serving, as I walked up to the bar, the original lady finished serving one customer and then ignored me and another man who I had noticed when I walked in and I have no idea how long the poor guy had been waiting to be served and she went off some where into the back of beyond, rudeness comes to mind.
The lady who had crept up behind me in the restaurant then asked me, in not a particularly nice way "what do you want" (possibly needs some training in customer relations), I explained that the guy who had been waiting was before me and had been waiting ages, The lady's reply, well there is only to of us on.
When I eventually got served, I ordered a beer and a burger, (special Tuesday for £10), the burger meat was tasteless, the fat chips were not cooked in the middle and I left 70% of the meal. Maybe they use a cheap alternative because of the "special"
On the whole a terrible night, would I go again, absolutely not. Please note I have had to give this one star otherwise you cannot post the review, Please ignore this, I have never had a worse...
Read moreI booked a few weeks in advance for a party of 9. This was for my Mum's 80th birthday and we reserved a private room which is a lovely space. I reconfirmed a week in advance and was told all was OK and there being 9 of us there was no need to pre book any food. My Niece went in on the morning and decorated the room and again confirmed 9 of us would be there at 2.30pm. All started off OK and our drinks were ordered. The debacle started when we tried to order our food. Immediately, the waitress advised us that there were no scotch eggs or houmous and only 1 prawn skillet, these were all starters we wanted. We altered our choices and then tried to order mains. Again we were told there was only 1 pie, 1 steak and 2 fish. At this stage we were all extremely upset and quite ready to leave. However after a discussion amongst ourselves and because we had decorated the room and had drinks, we decided to stay and order what we could. The food that came was sub standard. The steak was inedible and sent back, the risotto was dry and tasteless and the raclett was a poor imitation of the real thing. The Manager could do nothing but agree that the whole situation was completely unacceptable. He did take our drinks off the bill. Not wanting to cause a fuss and spoil my Mum's celebration further, we paid for the food and left. We had planned to spend our afternoon and evening there so the bar lost out on some good revenue. How on earth were they planning on serving customers until 10pm on a Saturday evening? The excuse given was a supplier problem??? Before we sat down, we should have been told of this ridiculous situation. We will most definitely...
Read moreI have lived in Dulwich by the Lord Palmerston for 60 years. Friends of mine have owned the cherry tree years ago. I pop in once in a blue moon but would just like to say to Matt the manager now. The woman with long black hair working alongside the guy with the beard this evening is very RUDE and should not be working with the public. I popped in from a day out with friends after getting off the train ordered some drinks two being larger shandy. She rudely said where’s he’s ID. The shandy wasn’t for my 15 year old grandson he was helping to Carr the drinks to the table. She also on arrival came out to the front of the pub and told us to use the other gate to enter again with attitude. This is not how publicans or staff dealing with the public should be speaking to customers. Also on using the Disabled toilet with my 3 year old granddaughter I found the seat disconnected and sliding all over this is dangerous and a disabled person would slip straight off and have an accident. I made the same bar woman aware of this and all she did was give me a dirty look. When my friend ordered a pot of tea there was no spoon or sugar. When the same bar woman was asked politely for a spoon again just a dirty look. She shouldn’t be behind the bar. I or should I say we won’t be...
