Bloom Kitchen & Bar — Restaurant in London

This is a strange place. This is the restaurant and bar of the Crowne Plaza in Kings Cross.

From the look of it, both restaurant and bar were run as separate businesses that have failed ( the restaurant is literally still branded as Belgo outside and has all the Belgo decor inside…) and been replaced by this in-house offering. Not clear if temporary until new tenants sourced or permanent - maybe waiting until the big development opposite is finished to decide?

Bar was very quiet both times I visited- only customer on one occasion.. good range of drinks and nice space but very quiet and lacking atmosphere. Pint of Madri, £7 - not bad.

Restaurant was similar, very quiet with a deserted air. No music, showing Eastenders on the tv… 😆

Food was lovely though, really nice. They do a pizza and a pint offer for £18, which is good for central London. Pizza with chilli and minced meat, properly fiery. Well made and Tasty. Would eat again.

Pudding was sticky toffee pudding. Decent, but presentation very much school-dinner style.

Overall, food is nice but need to work on identity/atmosphere a bit. Space is nice. Could work well. Take down the Belgo...

We saw this place when we searched restaurants to dine in York and we were beyond surprised with our discovery. Not to often you blindly search a restaurant and leave with a smile from ear to ear fulfilled with an amazing dining experience. We started off at the bar with cocktails which were amazing. Atmosphere was great although there wasn’t a TV in the bar which I guess can be a good thing. We had a great table and our food was spectacular from start to finish. Bad service from the start, three meals came out, another 10 minutes for the rest. Started clearing plates when three people still eating. Never asked if we needed more drinks. Kept pushing chair next to me everytime they walked past banging it into my leg, in the end I moved it which they were not happy about. Asked if we wanted desserts before everyone had finished mains, forgot one of the desserts, we chased after 10 minutes and it arrived, when we got the bill, they had for that dessert twice!
