Very nice place!!! In the evening! (They don’t sell any pork)
We paid around £75+ 2 people, with 2 starters, 2 Main,3 sides, 1 sparking water bottle, and 1 chocolate cake (charged us half as they didn’t have change for the cash) and with Service Charge 12.5%
We didn’t know where to go after a Spa Session and drove down to Wanstead, walked down the road to check out few restaurants and found this place, the lighting seemed attractive and the Restaurant vibe at night was so Romantic nice slow music and food is sizing so is the service - although took very long to attend to us to take an order may be forgot about us as we sat on the right side and corner. It wasn’t busy or overcrowded, went mid week Wednesday around 7.45PM We ordered: *Starters; BeefBrisket and Bone marrow it’s called Butter something on the menu *Mains: Lamb shoulder and beef brisket (100g each, doesn’t come with a side) *Sides: 3x Sides: beans - comes with meat pieces Fries and Greens - the best ever kale and broccoli I ever had. Desert; They have no desert menu, but have a cafe counter - we had a vegan pistachio chocolate cake. It was nice and on the house as we paid cash and they didn’t have the change.
Food was amazing!!! Kale&Broccoli normally doesn’t taste nice but the dressing on it was nice!
Meat portion being 100g was bit too small for the price lamb was okay though.
Good to know: The evening menu is different. Cafe menu...
Read moreFantastic location, great coffee but absolutely poor overpriced BBQ. I bought the £12 burger (absurdly expensive for essentially a slider cheese burger....) the burger itself tasted great but felt like a robbery for what's probably a 2 Oz party and a baby bun, I'm not a fan of small portion food at sky high prices. The dirty fries is where I was left really disappointed, on top of perfectly acceptable fries was this mess of semi hard cold sweet beans, pickles and about a teaspoon of BBQ brisket which was frankly dry, honestly I was disappointed eating it as it sounded and looked fantastic. When a place does too much (coffee, breakfast, cakes AAAND BBQ) they're destined to get things wrong. Good BBQ takes hours to get right, it's not stingy with the portions ( we saw the £55 pound 'platter come out and it was pathetically small for the price, two bits of corn on the cob a sausage and a few bits of meat.) and it's certainly not pretentious. The fact that they charge you per 100g of BBQ is a disgrace as if it's world class enough to be deserving of such a price scheme. Anyway I recommend the coffee it's great, the atmosphere is spot on thanks to their beautiful decore, the breakfast is also really decent but the BBQ was bitterly...
Read moreWe went with our anxious pup and were kindly seated indoors away from other diners which we appreciated. Though they are dog friendly, a few servers are wary or afraid of dogs, so be sure you have a short lead with you.
For vibes and atmosphere, the music was pretty elite and enjoyable, some Norah Jones, electro pop enhancing the experience.
Food wise: we had the Gods butter and brisket bombs. The former tasted lovely, it’s just not much of it (not the restaurants fault of course!) and the brisket bombs we’re nice, but maybe a teeny bit dry inside.
Mains were the showstopper, we ordered the brisket, steak of the week (ribeye) and the sides were: rosemary fries, house coleslaw and charred greens. The charred greens were the underdog, perfectly cooked, amazing sauce/dressing, fries were crispy until the very last one and the house slaw was delicious. The beef brisket comes in a 100g portion, which isn’t enough for one person as is unless you’re not very hungry or get the brioche bun as a side. So we opted for 2 servings, it was fall of the fork, tender and slightly dry as it doesn’t come with a sauce. The steak was beautifully cooked and seasoned to perfection, it melted in your mouth and it was a 300g for £25! Hats off...
