💫 SuperNova Fizzled Fast — Soho (25/09/2025) Part Two of My Smash Burger Quest
Round two of my smashed burger adventure took me to SuperNova on Peter Street, and sadly, the name promised more than it delivered.
🍔 Food Vibes & Flavours
The buns stood out here much more than at Junk SoHo, beautifully buttered and toasted, giving a warm, slightly crisp base that made the bite feel more thoughtful.
The Classic Burger was serviceable. Not an aged patty, and seasoning was understated, good, but not great.
The House Burger followed the same mould, swapping out a few condiments but not rescuing the core flavour. The patty itself was okay, plays it safe, but doesn’t surprise.
The real winner? The Half & Half drink — iced tea and lemonade split. It struck the perfect balance: refreshing, not overly sweet, exactly what I needed in between burger bites. 🍹
🪑 Seating & Mood
No tables here think cocktail-bar seats or standing counters. If you don’t want to perch on a bar stool or balance a tray while standing, takeout is your friend. The vibe fits fast, vibrant, no-frills dining.
Inside, the decor leans retro a 1960s/1970s throwback with an open kitchen where you see the sizzle in progress. It’s visually engaging and adds energy to the experience.
🚘🚗🅿️Parking & Access
SuperNova’s Soho address: 25 Peter Street, W1F 0AH
If you’re driving, here are a few pointers: • NCP Brewer Street Car Park is nearby, open 24 hours. • Q-Park Soho is right in the district and operates round the clock. • For street parking, there are scattered spots that free up after 18:30. • Past Shaftesbury Avenue, near Chestertons / Odeon Covent Garden, locals report some free street parking from 6:30 pm onward. • Others suggest that many parking restrictions in central zones lift after 18:30.
Always double-check street signs; central London is notoriously inconsistent.
⚖️ Summary
SuperNova brings a sharper edge in bun quality and ambience compared to my Junk SoHo round. The burgers are tidy and stable, but still don’t quite hit the depth I’d hope for. The drink steals the scene.
Seating is minimal, parking is tricky, and the queue is long. If you’re chasing the perfect smashed burger, this is a worthy stop, but temper expectations. Overhyped somewhat.
Also to be mindful of noise for nearby...

Starting from the beginning. You join a lengthy queue outside, to then be told by someone that you need to join the other queue, which is randomly on the opposite side of the road and one road over, so it's not a standard queuing system. Next up, is the pushing in, the guy controlling the queue system was letting customers push in, and considering we're waiting outside for 45+ mins, this is poor, and REALLY frustrating. I can easily see customers having an argument or worse a fight over such things...
They have a sign on the door that they seemingly put up and take down at their own convenience, it reads.. we require you to sit in to respect our neighbours and get the full dining experience etc.. Which brings me to my next point, the setting area is tiny. This drives the queue length, and il be honest, the chefs and staff are in NO rush to cook quickly here, they can be seen having a laugh together and chatting and drinking their drinks whilst the queue gets longer and longer.. It's all part of their marketing ploy no doubt and it's working wonders.
In the queue you can hear everyone discussing how it must be so good to have a queue like this etc.. so it's working, bravo guys.
Now then the food.. Burgers are what I know best. Having worked with burgers for the past 12 years, I know what goes into all kinds of good, and bad burgers.. alas
These were good burgers. Thinly smashed, on a nicely Toasted 4 inch potato bun, so you get that crispy beef and cheese overhang. The pickles, and sauces were seemingly premium, and all together it comes together in a delightfully simple and effective burger, 9/10 for the burgers alone. The fries were basic. Bit of a small portion to be honest too.
Overall, the experience drives the hunger and hype.. waiting around, seeing the queue, finally eating etc..
I struggle to see how this model will have longevity, but I'm excited to see where it's at in a years time, maybe they've cracked the code!!
