Came to Brewdog Clerkenwell today and I'm bitterly disappointed. I booked a table for 12 people at 12:30 and secured this with a credit card authorisation (with their strict t's and c's) . This is understandable as it's a large number so fair enough. When we arrived we had to move chairs and stools ourselves to make a table of 12. Why make the booking process so long winded and not even bother to have the table reserved? The lady just said "sit where you want".
On to the food. I had the the vegan Seitan "Clucky this time". They use the Seitan from Temple of Seitan/Camden so I'm familiar with the mock chicken patty.
The menu stated it:
"Temple of Seitan fillet, avocado, red onion, vegan cajun mayo & coriander served on a vegan beetroot brioche bun."
I received no vegan Cajun mayo, corriander or brioche bun. It came in a standard bun. It was very very dry. The reason why I didn't raise the issue at the restaurant is because we had to wait 35 minutes for the food to arrive. By this time I was starving. I just can't understand the delay. Yes it's a large order for 12 people but 35 minutes? There were a few customers but I wouldn't say the restaurant was busy.
The staff are lovely and welcoming but I feel massively disappointed with my experience. I had the "Clucky this time"burger, fries and a Fritz diet kola for £18! Yes it's London but that's very expensive for a sub standard experience. It's a shame as I've been once before and had a good experience but after today I won't...
Read moreMy friends and I came here for Wings Wednesday (unlimited wings). They had 3 flavours available — buffalo, dragon spice and plain. The buffalo and dragon spice wings come in sets of 10 while the plain ones come in sets of 5.
We started off with 10 buffalo and 10 dragon spice wings. They both came with mayo. The buffalo wings were very saucy and tangy while the dragon spice wings (my favourite of the three) were quite salty. We then got sets of plain wings, which were unseasoned and came with 3 sauces — honey mustard, sriracha mayo and blue cheese sauce. There was also tomato sauce at the table. The honey mustard was really good with the wings, but the sriracha mayo and blue cheese were a bit flavourless.
The staff were really friendly and kind, explaining everything clearly as it was our first time there and our first time trying Wings Wednesday. They also let our friend who wasn’t participating sit on the same table as us and order a different dish. Everything was ordered at the bar. We also got a free dessert afterwards (3 scoops of ice cream) as we played rock paper scissors with them and won :). Overall, I had a really good experience here and would definitely come again to try the other food items...
Read moreMy daughter bought me a beer school gift for my birthday. The session was run by the deputy manager JP standing in at short notice due to staff absence. JP made it good fun giving a short history of Brewdog before going through the range of beers with a selection of cheeses for tasting. Certainly tried some beers I wouldn't usually have tried so was a good experience so thanks JP! My family joined us afterwards for some drinks and food. The service was slightly disappointing after the excellent beer school. We had an extended wait for the food after ordering it as the chef was on a break (JP did apologise for that). However one of the other staff spoke to me disrespectfully after I queried an incorrect order rather than find out what the issue was. It was corrected but not completely and we had to ask for the sour dough toast which should have been part of the dish. The same member of staff provided ordinary bread and made a comment about the chef was a short notice stand in "we brought him in specially so you could have food". Shame about the customer service from this individual (yes I know it's challenging times but...) But at least JP was great on...
