Went for dinner sat where I have been told for 40 minutes,a lady with black hair would serve anyone except me. When I went to ask to the bar to a guy who presented himself like the manager what was happening ,he ask me to leave, didn't even try to understand what was happening. I understand that he probably has to deal with drunk people, but He said to me He couldn't understand me,maybe He just like to serve british peoole I don't know. Very sad in 2025 still find places like this It's first time in my life, after travelling all around the world that I get treated so badly Never mind ,was in UK for a few days holiday, the guy very unpolitely ruin the first night
Dear Mr Roger thanks for the answer But the only person harassed was me I sat there waiting,as I had been told and never said a word to the lady serving at the table,in fact I don't make differences as You probably do between female or male. When I went to the bar to ask explanation the guy said to me "listen mate" mate? I am not his mate I am a client ,then he carry on asking "what do you want"? And I reply I wanted to have dinner. Now it's obvious was a misunderstanding, but They should have tried to sort it? Don't You think? In the small back room were I sat there were 3 tables and me,the waitress was coming and going,I had menù in my hand, instead of ignoring shoe could have told me to go place the order at the bar. Now,let me tell You who I am,I am a 50ish years old man,who runs his own company, well known fromr everyone and funny enough known as a real believer in feminist. So I won't accept your accuse of harassment, I NEVER SAID A WORD TO THE LADY only ask if kitchen was open to the other one at the bar. So if You have camera,as I presume You weren't there last night, look at them see what happen, and train your staff instead of accusing of such a serious thing...

Atmosphere Elegant without being fussy. The downstairs bar is cosy and classic, while the upstairs Apollo Lounge—once a concert hall—is bright, spacious, and steeped in character. Whether you’re sipping by the fireplace or basking on the terrace, the vibe is relaxed, welcoming, and unmistakably local.
Drinks A solid selection of beers, including well-kept cask ales and rotating craft options. The lines are clean, the pours generous, and the staff know their stuff. Wine and cocktails are available too, but this is a place where beer shines.
Food British pub fare with a thoughtful twist. Expect hearty classics—fish and chips, burgers, Sunday roasts—made with care and seasonal ingredients. It’s not trying to be a gastropub, but it delivers comfort and quality. Brunch is popular, and the kitchen handles large groups with...
Read moreI was disappointed to find that this "dog-friendly" establishment seems to favor certain dogs—particularly the landlord's off-leash and rather aggressive one.
Unfortunately, my leashed Westie was recently attacked, and instead of any accountability, I was met with a rather hostile response from the bulldog’s owner , who insisted his dog had every right to behave that way since this was "his home" as he owns the place.
While I truly appreciate the kindness of the staff, I’ll be choosing to support other places for now—ones that prioritize the safety and comfort of all their patrons and their dogs.
It’s unfortunate that what should have been a relaxed Sunday drink with a friend whom I haven't seen for years, turned into such an unpleasant experience. Thankfully, there are plenty of other welcoming spots in the area that I am looking forward to explore and support.
I just noticed the reply from the pub rep...even though I hope this is a joke- it shows how little respect they have of the innocent and lovely creatures dogs are - something to think when you take your furry friend...
