EC1 Coffee House — Restaurant in London

EC1 Coffee House is tiny coffee shop on Clerkenwell Road open from 7.30 AM to 5.00 PM serving arguably the best coffee in the area. While the area is littered with specialists independent coffee shops including the Department of Coffee and Social Affairs, EC1 offers the best coffee. EC1 is run by its owners who are incredibly friendly and warm, building lasting rapport with regular customers. The shop is owned by a family who used to own the restaurant next door which makes them as local as can be.

EC1 is mostly a takeaway coffee shop although there is sitting for about five people. In addition to coffee they offer sandwiches, baked goods such as crossiants and sweet goods including granola bars and rocky road bars.

I’m a regular here because the coffee is seriously amazing; smooth and a perfect temperature, with the added bonus that it’s served by lovely people. (I don’t think the last (and only!) 2 star review is a fair reflection of this place - I imagine the only reason they aren’t open today is due to the national train strike!). Visited EC1 Coffee House today with friends. We just wanted to have good coffee and a snack they serve excellent wraps, we found a real treat in this lovely place. It was very special and would highly recommend it. The space is quite small, but you are able to sit on bar stalls and eat and drink comfortably at a long table, probably seats 8.
