Coffee lovers, avoid this one.
Visited Brickwood today for a quick coffee and have not had worse experience at a cafe in London.
The cafe was very busy and whilst one member of the staff was trying very hard (the 1* goes to him), the rest of the staff did not seem to work with any particular urgency. We were seated upon arrival and informed the waiter that we were there only for quick coffees. It then took us nearly 20 mins to order our coffees. Following that it took about 25 mins (45 mins in total) to receive our coffees during which we debated whether to just leave several times. The coffee itself had a burnt and foul flavour and was definitely not worth the wait. We asked for the bill straight after our coffees arrived but it still took another 25 mins to receive.
Thank you to Brickwood for making a quick coffee stop almost 1 hour and 15 mins long purely due to your horrible service.
Of a note is also the fact that a lady sitting directly behind me who was vegan received a cheese toastie with non-vegan cheese and it took her 3 complaints to rectify this only to proceed to receive coffee with dairy milk.
I will not be returning to this branch and probably to...
Read moreI came for the first time for a lunch with a friend. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty they've installed us on a small low table under the pretext that all regular tables are booked. Once the food arrived it was impossible to put plates and glasses on the our table so I've asked on being moved to one of many available tables. The food was ok, nothing special. However after we paid the bill we realised that we were charged for 2 juices we have not consumed (13 GBP in total). After asking for a refund, the card machine could not refund us contactlessly, which is strange as we paid using our phones. The waiter insisted on us inserting the card (that we did not have) and said that it's OUR MISTAKE for being charged more as we have not looked at the bill before we paidđ€Șđ€. He also said that they cannot refund us in cash. Overall very rude and unprofessional behaviour. I've asked to speak to a manager who finally refunded us in cash. This confusion wasted 25 minutes of our time. In summary a very negative experience and unfriendly stuff ! I will not come back...
Read moreI was extremely excited to discover that my favourite breakfast spot in Balham (and probably London) has a branch in Clapham Junction. They just seem to nail everything. Superb Ozzie style coffee, great service and a divine full English ('The Butcher') cooked to perfection with their signature chilli jam and more hash brown nuggets than I can ever eat.... I have never left hungry.
Brickwood Clapham unfortunately failed on every level. Eventually after 30 minutes the meal arrived. Instead of the usual crispy bacon, the bacon looked like it had been boiled rather than grilled. The poached eggs were overdone đ€Š. The chilli jam was missing, there were no serviettes or pepper on the table, and it seemed almost impossible to get the attention of staff for help. Judging by the constant rotation of food delivery scooter drivers coming in and out, I wonder whether takeaway is the real focus. Either way, I hope that these are just teething problems and I will one day again be able to enjoy the superb breakfast and coffee experience that I have come to know and love...
