The bustling Burrough Markets offer a wide variety of well... everything. And locals will always recommend the chocolate covered strawberries at Turnips.
Turnips is located towards the center of the Burrough Market, and you can't miss it with its vibrant colored fresh fruit drinks, and rows of jet red strawberries. The space looks like part farmers market and part industrial trendy juice bar. Odds are, by this point, you've already seen patrons walking around the market with clear cups jam-packed with strawberries and absolutely covered in chocolate.
There is often a line, but the workers are so efficient that you will be in and out within minutes if not seconds. As you pass thru the checkout you are greeted with what I can only refer to as a "strawberry cup jamming chocolate covering technician," and they will ask how many cups you need (ordered). You get your cup(s), and you're on your way!
Some tips:
This is a market, and vendors prefer cash. Also, this delicacy is not only filled to the brim with chocolate, but the cup itself is probably dripping with it. Be sure to grab plenty of napkins AND forks to share this wonderful treat. Lastly, the Burrough Markets are only open until 5pm, so, make sure you call it an early dinner or pre-super snacks!
It is truly a wonderful experience, and it's a lovely snack as you peruse the other...
Read moreWe visited Turnips at Borough Market during a recent family trip to London, and it definitely lived up to the buzz! We arrived right at 10am as the market was opening, and Turnips was already drawing a crowd. Our first stop was for their famous chocolate-covered strawberry cups, £8 each, and they were every bit as delicious as people say—juicy, rich, and beautifully presented. We shared two cups among five people. A definite must-try if you’re visiting the market.
After enjoying the strawberries, we grabbed three of their freshly pressed juices: the Green Machine, Mango Exotic, and Super Berry. One thing we really appreciated was that all ingredients are clearly listed, so you know exactly what you're getting. Each juice was vibrant, refreshing, and tasted incredibly fresh. At around £4–£5 each, they felt like a fair value for the quality.
The only slight downside was the customer service—while the staff was efficient, they came across as a bit flat and disengaged. It was likely due to the fast paced environment, which can be overwhelming at times, but a touch more warmth would’ve made the experience feel even better.
Overall, Turnips is definitely worth a stop if you're at Borough Market—especially for those chocolate strawberries and...
Read moreReally disappointed with your customers service. Today i bought 2 apples 3 carots and 2 Persimmon fruits. One member of your team charge me with 8.40£ , at my question why so expensive he unswer becouse everything is imported, but this wasn't my question. I double checked and he overcharged for everything. I had to go and double check to make sure i'm not wrong and then come back 1 minute later to get a refund and the person asked me if it was him who served me, 1 minute later? After giving me the refund of th difference he overcharged, he asked a colleague if it's ok and the colleague replying in a rude way "just give them the money" with me, the customer, in front of them. It doesn't matter how much it is, but when you see someone overcharging for something that is already expensive and having thus attitude about it, like i was in the wrong of questioning for what I pay my money? It is not ok and being a regular customer i feel that I'll probably walk by next time and choose some other place to buy my fruits and...
