Burning Rose — Restaurant in London

Such a strange vibe in this restaurant - there was an ongoing disagreement between the 3 waiters which lasted the whole time we were there. They were arguing between each other and even saw one of the waiters punch a door before going outside for a cigarette. You could sense there were things going wrong with other tables orders also where heard someone asking to take off the service charge. All of this led to quite a tense/odd atmosphere.

As for the meal itself - there was something wrong with the draught lager so had bottles which weren’t as cold as they should be. We ordered prawn crackers which never came and were kept on the bill - surely this is the easiest thing to keep ready? I saw two baskets of them being kept on top of a fridge for when people order them but looks like they ran out just before we ordered.

Pad Thai had slightly undercooked noodles and spring rolls were fine. The restaurant has a really good open kitchen which reminds me of Kiln in Soho - but then the chefs would go missing every now and again so the back half of the restaurant would be completely empty - again adding to a strange atmosphere in this restaurant. Some of the ceiling is peeling off also.

I read a positive review of Burning Rose which led me to visit but I’m not sure what has happened since then - in any case I won’t be returning unless I hear things have changed...

Saw this place had good reviews and was tempted. Food portions small and nothing special. No desserts or coffee available. If you want a fast food place, this would be for you, but if you want a night out go elsewhere.

Service appalling... the manager literally threw us out at 1 hour 15 minutes. I had to stand in the street to finish drinking my wine, which was not even chilled and over priced.

I took the glass out with me, and he suggested I drunk it from the bottle. The most disgusting service I have ever encountered. The manager us rude and had a toddler tantrum when we complained.

The food is not freshly cooked.. if you see the kitchen the sauces rice etc are all in tubs waiting to be heated.

I genuinely do not understand the good reviews.

Walk across the road to firefly, much better food, atmosphere and service.

Got a delivery last night as we love the food here. I’ve heard of “shrinkflation” but it’s getting ridiculous at this place. Pad Thai - four prawns and a similar number of strands of noodles for £14. Honestly don’t care if they wanted to bulk out that dish with more noodles and less prawns than usual but to do both seems mean. As to the chicken wings for £8 starter…those birds (both of them!) need some RSPB input. We’ve stopped ordering the fish cakes for the same reason but the disease seems to be spreading. Would have taken a photo to share but the dishes had mostly evaporated before I could get to a camera! I get that input costs have gone up but this feels like price gouging now. Too many other good Thai’s around to continue here - suggest Cher for Clapham locals. They seem to have found a cheaper...
