We booked our Christmas party here and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. Despite the initial excitement, the night was marred by a series of issues that significantly impacted our enjoyment. From the outset, difficulties arose during pre-party negotiations, particularly concerning the minimum spend requirement. This created unnecessary stress leading up to the event, and unfortunately, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. One of the most concerning aspects was the lack of staff knowledge when we met with a representative a week before the party. It was disheartening to discover that they were ill-informed about the arrangements, leading to further confusion and anxiety. Throughout the night, there were constant disruptions as non-party guests freely moved through our private area, including access to the designated smoking area at the back. The security team, regrettably, contributed to the overall discomfort with their unfriendly demeanor and unhelpful attitude. Despite assurances, there was a noticeable absence of assistance in securing our private area, resulting in a continuous stream of other customers passing through. This lack of control and organisation reflected poorly on the venue. The professionalism of the staff was questionable at best, with a palpable lack of coordination and a general sense of disarray. The bar service suffered due to insufficient staff, leading to frustratingly long waits and, at times, no staff present when we wanted to order drinks. The issues extended to the dining experience, with starters delivered to only one table and a failure to communicate dietary requirements. Main courses arrived at different times, and desserts were served late, some even after guests had left their tables. There were noticeable discrepancies in serving sizes, with some guests receiving generous portions while others getting much smaller servings. The promised extra vegetables for our table never materialised. While the manager demonstrated genuine effort and goodwill, it was clear The Regent struggled to handle a large-scale event such as this. Despite the potential, the numerous issues in service, coordination, and overall execution make it difficult to recommend The Regent as a venue for similar events in the future. It's regrettable that what should have been a festive and enjoyable evening turned into a challenging experience for both organisers and attendees. Hopefully, the venue takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to ensure a more positive experience for...
Read moreHad a fairly awful experience here on the night of Saturday 13th July. Went into the pub at around 23:30, after checking the opening hours and seeing that it would be open until 1 am. There was nobody staffing the bar so it wasn't clear if they were still serving. But after a little while someone came over and very grudgingly served us 2 beers. Put them down on the bar without a word then walked away.
At midnight we could see people still buying drinks, and we got ourselves another 2 beers, thankfully from a slightly friendlier member of staff. Then at 12:06, we were stunned when a security guy came to our table, plonked down 2 plastic pint cups and told us "we're closing in 10 minutes, drink up please". There was never any shout or bell for last orders, and it wasn't mentioned when we bought our drinks.
Less than 5 minutes later - yes, I checked the time - he came back to our table and told us "we're closed, you need to leave now". So that's a 10 minute gap between being happy to serve us drinks with no warning of imminent closing, to wanting us and everyone else out of the pub immediately!
We did what we were told of course, but as we had a tube ride home coming up my girlfriend went down to the toilet to use the facilities quickly. While washing her hands, she heard a loud knock on the door, which then opened to reveal a security guy shouting at her "we're closed, you need to leave". He was then waiting just outside the door when she came out of the bathroom. This was a scary experience for her - no woman wants to be cornered in a basement toilet by a man on her own late at night. By 12:20 we were out on the street.
The whole thing left us confused and shaken. I understand that occasionally you might need to shut earlier than your published closing time, but if so then this needs to be clearly communicated, not suddenly and arbitrarily imposed on your paying customers. And your security team really need to learn some basics about how to interact with customers. The purpose of security in a pub is to make the customers feel safe and welcome - they did quite...

I recently visited the Regent Pub and had the pleasure of being served by Saff and Sasha, and I can't say enough good things about my experience! From the moment I walked in, they greeted me with warm smiles and a genuine enthusiasm that made me feel right at home.
Saff's knowledge of the menu was impressive, and she offered great recommendations that suited my taste perfectly. Sasha was equally attentive, ensuring my drink was always topped up and checking in to see how I was enjoying my meal. Their teamwork and camaraderie really shone through, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
The service was prompt, and they both went above and beyond to ensure my visit was enjoyable. It’s rare to find such dedicated staff who truly care about their customers. I left the Regent Pub feeling valued and appreciated, which is why I’m excited to share this review.
