This place is a gem. Not only are the teas and desserts authentic, but also taste of honest, quality ingredients. From the natural aroma of the tea to the silky smoothness of the milk. As an avid tea lover, it’s very difficult to find a place like this, even in a city like London.
Food review: Uji Matcha Latte - 9.5/10 - I rarely give anything above an 8, but I haven’t really ever had better, it’s clearly the good stuff directly from Japan and lovingly made. Most places over-sweeten these drinks to cover up the lower quality ingredients. The matcha at Cha-fe is made to allow the taste and texture of the natural flavours to come through, and it’s a real treat for matcha lovers.
Oolong tieguanying (iron Buddha) milk tea - 9.5/10 - Again, real, high quality taste of the iron Buddha tea with the fresh taste of quality milk and a perfect blend of sweetness. I really did not expect to find a naturally flavoured milk tea. This is exactly what I expect of the best of milk tea from Asia.
Matcha cake slice - 9/10 - Freshly handmade, real ingredients, perfectly complements the drinks, and on par with top quality cakes even in Asia. Only downside: they make a limited quantity, once it’s gone it’s gone, but is that really a downside?
Overall - 10/10 - highly recommended, I’d come here everyday if I lived nearby. Lovely owners and staff. Honest, premium quality, real ingredients, and natural flavours. Lovely, clean environment: just a great place to enjoy a quality...
Read moreThis cafe is a 10 out of 10! A five-star review is not enough to show how good their tea is. As a Taiwanese living in America and traveling here in England, I strongly miss a good milk tea to wake me up. This cafe is a dream come true. Although it's not their official opening today, it's a "trial opening," and their staff are super friendly, kindly asking us how the drinks taste and if we need more sugar in them. 🌟
We had the honey black milk tea and oolong milk tea, with options for regular milk and oat milk. Their Basque cake is rich—it's not too sweet and has a delightful aroma of green tea/matcha. If you're a big fan of Basque cake or matcha, it's a must-order! They also have hot brownies that are fresh out of the oven, so be careful because they're really hot. But once you take a bite, you'll experience a strong chocolate and hazelnut taste. 🍵🍰
Among all the pastries I tried, my favorite is actually the banana cake. It's not too sweet, allowing you to really taste the nuts and banana inside. Unlike the oily versions I make myself, this one is light, moist, and has a delightful crunchiness and interesting texture. 🍌🍰
The decoration and atmosphere are wonderful, reminiscent of being back in Asia. Plus, the lighting is perfect for...
Read morevery cute little cafe with minimalist crossed with traditional Chinese 茶馆儿 vibes. The coffee was pretty good and went great with the yuzu & matcha “bread” I had, which was displayed in a plastic wrapper and I expected it to be a typical preserved bun with flavouring but it was DELICIOUS ! It was soft and full of filling - a mix of yuzu and matcha cream with some kind of even more matcha-ey core. I was glad I had a coffee with it, instead of a matcha latte as that might have been matcha overload (for me) and the coffee balanced it out perfectly. I just couldn’t believe how yummy the matcha & yuzu bread was, definitely exceeded expectations!! I also tried a roasted oolong latter (hot) which a lovely warming drink perfect for autumn, nice oolong tea flavour with creamy/foamy milk, a little sugar is added a standard which complimented the drink well, but if you want to avoid sugar you may need to ask...
