We visited here to start our day in Chelsea with breakfast. We had high expectations from the reviews, but were instantly let down.
The room is tiny with tables squashed together, barely any space to move. I’m only 5”3 of small build and I struggled to squeeze between the tables. You’re basically sat at other people’s tables. It’s not very lady-like to have your behind hanging over someone’s else’s table whilst they’re eating and swinging your bags over their heads, trying to avoid hitting them or knocking their food and drinks off their table.
We initially sat at the back as the room was really cold and people were in and out of the front door. After ordering, we were approached by a member of staff to get up and move to the front as we were told that someone else needed our table (there were 2 of us at a 4 seater table). We got up to move to the only place I that was available and we didn’t want to sit. The people we moved for were then seated at a different table. The whole experience was just completely unnecessary and frustrating. Not a good example of customer service to move people once seated, especially for no reason. I later discovered that there was extra seating downstairs, but they were choosing not to seat anyone downstairs. I’m not sure why as all this could have been avoided.
We ordered scrambled egg with mushroom on toast and eggs royale (salmon, hollandaise on muffins). My fiancé enjoyed his scrambled egg meal. My muffins were too dense, and the sauce too sickly.
We also ordered an oat milk latte and an almond milk latte (allergies). The drink were put on our table with no idea which one was which and the waitress just walked off. We asked which one was which and she didn’t know so had to take them back to the counter to check. The look on their face said they couldn’t remember. Drinks were brought back and I’ve never tasted anything coffee like this. The alarming milk latter had a very strange lingering taste, almost like liquorice. We didn’t know what it was and couldn’t quite put our finger on it, but it was left as it was undrinkable. Such a waste of money.
After all that they had the cheek to charge us a service charge on top of our bill. I wasn’t aware of this until I returned from the bathroom as my fiancé kindly paid.
Unfortunately I can’t recommend and won’t be...
Read moreMy friend and I visited this café for what we hoped would be a lovely brunch, but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had in a long time.
We ordered the beetroot matcha, which arrived without any trace of matcha. When I raised this with the waitress, she simply said she didn’t know it was supposed to contain matcha; quite surprising given it’s in the name of the drink. The fruit juice we ordered was mostly ice and lacked any real flavour, completely underwhelming.
I specifically asked for my eggs Benedict to be well cooked, as I can’t eat runny eggs. I explained this clearly to the waiter, but the eggs arrived runny. I sent them back and explained again, only for the replacement to be exactly the same, undercooked yolk again. On top of that, the sauce was overwhelming and far too rich, making the dish nearly inedible, and the buns tasted stale. Overall, a terrible brunch, especially for a place located in Chelsea.
To make matters worse, we were not even given a receipt. The waiter entered the amount himself, including a service charge, which I did pay eventhough I shouldn’t have. I was offered a croissant at the end, but I declined, as I came for a proper meal, not a consolation pastry.
I left feeling frustrated and let down. I ended up taking half of the bun with me and throwing it away as soon as I left the café. A complete waste of money and such a shame. Not somewhere I’d ever return to or recommend. WASTE OF MONEY, I wish I didn’t pay at all and leave the place instead of staying there and being nice to them and at the end the waiter acted like nothing happened. Lack of...
Read moreA friend and I reserved for a mid week brunch at Charlotte’s Cloud. The staff saved a cosy and spacious table at the back of the restaurant. Throughout our visit there was a steady flow of customers with quite a few individuals working on their laptops so it is probably worth prebooking, though midweek walk ins should easily be accommodated.
We both ordered the eggs Benedict which was very well presented and delicious. However, both plates had quite large chunks of egg shell and the muffin could have been fresher and toasted. We mentioned the egg shells to staff and they were very apologetic. They offered to replace the dishes but we were already quite far through them so declined. They said they would not charge for the eggs, only drinks, and that we could have anything sweet for free. We then ordered the pancakes which were really delicious. Upon paying, we were charged for our drinks and the pancakes. Given the pancakes were delicious, the eggs were deducted and we were in a rush; we did not kick up a fuss but we probably wouldn’t have ordered the pancakes had the staff not said we could have something sweet on the house.
It was such a shame as we really liked the vibe and the food minus the egg shells. Perhaps it was an off day for the chef but the staff handled the situation well. It would have been nice if the free sweet treat had been honoured as it wasn’t the best feeling...
