Good staff, greedy management.
I have been a long-time loyalist to Chick'os aka Franjo's from when they first opened this store a few years ago. Their food was not only good but priced very fairly. I could eat from here almost every day and although they could have an off-day in terms of quality, they always met the expectation in terms of cost.
Things have changed now, they have had a sudden price-hike which makes no logical sense. This can only be a 'money hungry' move by the owners to exploit what recent success they've had. I have been a customer since the very beginning, I have seen the impact of the pandemic to now and it's safe to say these guys have not had the same hit as others thanks to a very loyal customer base.
What we get in return for our loyalty is a price-hike that has seen almost every menu item increase by a significant few pounds without any explanation. For example, they previously had a platter on offer which was a whole chicken, 2 sides & 2 drinks for £14.99 Now £18.99. An increase of £4.00 overnight!?
This is the same with every menu item, not a 40 pence or 80 pence increase, it seems £1.50 at the minimum! It all adds up, and over a larger order it can be significant. Most restaurants will opt for a subtle increase over time, say by 20 pence one month and then another 10 pence the month after, this place just doesn't seem to care unfortunately.
There are also changes that make no sense, here is an example, there is a 'Mega Platter' which costs an eye-watering £58.99! however if you order every single item in the platter separately it works out cheaper! Where is the pricing strategy behind that? This shows the money-hungry nature of the management.
Good luck to these guys, I just think this is a matter of principle and not exploiting your customer base. There is an increase in cost, but now a significant increase in expectation of quality. The margin for error will be much smaller than ever before and with the food consistently being good not great, this is a recipe...
Read moreLost a long time customer today. I called to make an order for collection told them I will be there in. 1 hours time. Arrived at said time and was told it's not ready. I'm a bus driver so am on tight schedules.
They said 5 mins so I just waited. They then said I am early and said 8.30 when in fact I said 8.20.
Secondly I went to pay and they tried to charge me 8.50 for a single burger fries and a bottle of water. Apparently they changed policy and now a bottle of water is classed as a side. I then asked were it says that on the menu and was asked by the staff who can barely speak English as it is if I understood how to read English? I mean is that something normal to ask your customers?
Thirdly they forgot my peri fries and when asked about this the guy said I never asked for it on the phone, if I didn't ask for it why have you just charged my for a peri burger and fries?
I refused the water and just paid for one side of chips. When next door and bought the exact same bottle of water for 60p. Tell me when is a bottle of water classed as a side?
You have lost my respect and a long...
Read moreWe decided to visit the O2 Arena and Emirates Cable Car for a day trip from Barnet, North London. As a family of five, we wanted to enjoy a nice family meal but didn't want to pay the exorbitant menu prices on offer at the restaurants in the O2 so on our drive home, decided to stop over in Canning Town. We had never visited this part of London before so were a little sceptical on what would be on offer. We decided to give Franjo's a go as the shop looked very clean from the outside (and was absolutely spotless once we settled down at our table), something we always insist upon wherever we go to eat. In addition to the lovely interior decor, we were very impressed by the variety of menu items on offer and the food was not only delicious, but cooked to perfection at a price much cheaper than a 'certain other' peri peri chicken chain offered. All five members of my family ate for less than £30 (including drinks) and the staff were extremely helpful and polite. If we are ever happen to be in this area again we will most definitely pay Franjo's another visit. Highly...
