As a teacher who had just finished a long, exhausting day at school, I was looking forward to a bit of peace and a decent meal. What I got instead was one of the most appalling customer service experiences I’ve ever encountered.
I walked in a couple of weeks ago to a nearly empty restaurant—just one other table occupied—and was immediately greeted (if you can even call it that) with a blunt and hostile “What do you want?” No “hello,” no smile, nothing. I politely responded that I was after a table for one, and instead of being shown to a seat, I was interrogated on the spot: “What do you want to eat?” I hadn’t even taken a step past the door. I explained that I’d like to start with a hot drink while I looked at the menu—standard in any normal dining experience. Her response? “You can’t just order a drink, you need to order food.”
I tried to explain, calmly, that I understood that, but questioned why I was being interrogated at the door rather than being seated first like any other civilised restaurant would do. When I was finally seated, I was ignored completely. No menu, no follow-up, no opportunity to even place an order.

Read moreWhat a rip off and bitter taste left!!!! I have been coming to this place when it was Girder Thai. Now being Chilli and Basil Thai Kitchen for the first time, I popped in to order a takeaway. I have waited for almost half an hour, with only 2 tables inside, to get my order. What a rip off for 2 pad thai takeaway!!!! Almost £30, given the reason it was chicken and prawns (with only few prawns), which I ordered. I know all the local venues and franchises that offer the same cuisine in the area for the same quality, and way cheaper!! Never again as not worth the $!!Stay away!!! Unless you want to...
Read moreWe ordered the Thai curry and stir fry (both veg with tofu) I like the curry as it was authentic and not very sour, with the right amount of flavour and fresh vegetables.
The roce for each was £8 so spot on for the quality, quantity and quick service.
The Thai beers are amazing, so if you like to pair your food with local beer, this gould be a good option.
Having lived in Asia, I can say the Thai beers are a unique experience.
We were a bit disappointed on the starters due to price, quality and quantity (so rather add one more main next time and...
