Coffee Max — Restaurant in London

Very disappointing experience, customer service just compltky shocking. I arrived with my wife and 2 young some aged 5 and 4 at 22:18, we had a long journey and we were all hungry, my boys especially. As we arrived there we’re around 4 tables free but as soon as we arrived I saw the expression on the young ladies face, I’m guessing she is manager or owner, her expression said it all, there was no welcome, she said we are closed I’m afraid, I said on google it states 11pm, another lady standing by the coffee machine said it’s 1030! Although google states otherwise, the First Lady than said we have been very busy and kitchen is closed, she than said the chef said takeaway only, I could go on but here’s how me and my family feel, firstly I run my own Piri takeaway in Surrey and customer service is the most imporntany element of this type of business, if it’s been a busy night than who cares? That’s what you do as a restaurant to generate more customers and that’s why your in the game, if you really struggle with intake than I suggest you change yiur iob, if you were the owner that your a joke and if you are an employee than you need the sack! Never would I lie and make up some rubbish excuse and make a face like your doing me a favour to a family with young kids and tell them that it’s closed yet your doors are open youe lights are on and you have customers!!!! Than who the hell is the chef to say kitchen is closed? Is he the owner or just a joey who runs your place and thinks he makes the rules? I would never ever come back with my family as we felt humiliated in front of others. I don’t expect a response because you need to absorbe what I’ve said. I really suggest you have a review on how you handle customers and both ladies need to think about what they actually do. What a joke! FOUND A HAIR IN MY FOOD.

I’ve eaten here many times in the past and the customer service and food and hygiene standard has really dropped. Disappointing as I was speaking highly of the restaurant to a friend beforehand and brought them there, only to receive poor service, wait a very long time for our food, and find a hair in my plate that certainly did not belong to me! I tried to be discreet and not cause a scene regarding the disgusting matter, but when I informed my server who then informed the manager and told me the manager would see me soon, I was further shocked… The manager acted as though she could not see the hair in my food, even though her colleague who I had pointed it out to first saw it clearly when I showed him. Eventually she saw the hair (ridiculous) and said she will speak to the chef and went straight to the kitchen with my plate. The manager returned offering me a fresh plate of baked beans and chips (I’m not sure why because that wasn’t all I had ordered, nor where the hair was located) and I declined as I was put off of eating by that point. She then said “sorry about that” and walked away. Of course my friend was put off of their food as well and no longer felt like finishing their food after I discovered the hair in mine. When my friend and I were leaving the restaurant, we walked past the till and the manager started shouting saying that we must still pay for the food (really???) and drawing attention to us as if we were in the wrong. I won’t be returning to Coffee Max and I won’t be recommending it to anyone else in future either. Been coming here for years and the quality may have dropped a little but I still really like the food. To me the service is what has dropped...

I came with family on a Saturday evening without prior reservation and were seated promptly. We were fortunate as a large party was leaving as we entered. I would advise booking especially on Friday and Weekends.

We didn't order starters and went straight to the main. We ordered a Sirloin Streak (mushroom and cream sauce) with vegetables (broccoli covers with cheese and potatoes) and also the Lamb Chops. The streak was very tasty and cooked to a medium rare. The chops (from memory 7-8 pieces) were tender and came covered in very nice spicy sauce.

We were very happy with the food but it did take approx 45 mins to arrive which is too long even if the restaurant is full. Apart from the that the service was okay.

I have had a few of the pasta dishes on previous occasions and they have all been tasty and a generous portion size.

Personally the pasta dishes may be a little overpriced but the streak prices are average if compared to other local restaurants.

I would probably give 3 stars based on my recent visit due to the average service and waiting times but taking into account the years I have been coming here it deserves 4 stars especially since the service previously has...
