We found this beautiful pub whilst out walking and we are so glad we did. We did not have to wait long for a table so we ordered our drinks and were politely told by the two gentlemen working there that there would be a longer wait than normal as it was very busy at Christmastime. After observing the food coming out we decided we would wait. We are so happy we did as the fish and chips with mushy peas was very tasty indeed, very crispy, not too dry and succulent inside. I ordered scampi and chips and this was also really tasty too you could say that it was the same quality of fish that you eat on the English coast. We were overjoyed with our choice. We thought £29 for the two meals was very reasonable considering London prices and the quality offered. The two gentlemen working there although it was very busy they remained calm the whole time, but offered good quick and efficient service whilst being polite at the same time. We would definitely return to this pub once we return to London. Thank you for your excellent...
Read moreDO NOT GO TO THIS PUB/RESTURANT After having a lovely day being a typical tourist, me and my family stumbled upon the Grafton Arms and decided that it looked like a nice, cosy and warm. We wasn't greeted as we walked in and found ourselves a table. We waited for someone to come and take our order as there was a leaflet on the table saying "please take a seat and we will come and take your order" however after 15 minutes we gave up and ordered at the bar. The bar staff were exceptionally dull and rude, and lacked enthusiasm. Once we waited an exceptionally long time we received our food which was over cooked, luke warm and the chips were so burnt they had no potato left in them and just snapped. No memebr of staff was to be seen during our meal nor did they come and ask us if our meals were okay or if we wanted any drinks. I understand that when restaurants are busy that the staff can be stretched and over worked however this was on a wet Tuesday afternoon and there was only a selection of others in this...
Read moreWe came here for drinks and a light meal before going to the theatre. It is a cosy pub with plenty of seating options including some bays with tables. It is a Greene King pub with a good selection of their ales plus some guest ales. All the beers we tried were very fresh and had clearly been stored well. The food menu had a good selection of options including various sharing dishes. We ordered the chicken sharing platter which was wings, breaded strips and nuggets with chips, salad and two dips (spicy salsa and barbecue). The food was fresh and delicious. Given that the pub is quite central we thought that at just over £30 for the food and three drinks was good value. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It is worth noting that this is an old pub and there are steps at the front door and no disabled toilet so wheelchair access is a bit challenging. Overall, a lovely pub and we'd happily...
