I would want to give this restaurant zero stars. We entered the premises and was greeted very friendly the ambience was extremely comfortable. But then it went from good to bad to the worst experience in my history. We ordered the starters, that were overpriced but we ordered 10 starters, with the special Indian flavoured drinks. The drinks were Tangye and not comfortable to drink. The kebabs were like tasting a vegetable because they melted in your mouth like a potato instead of having a meaty texture. Lamb chops that was £7 each had the seasoning still on cooked on the meat. The Pudina Chicken Tikka was absolutely awful, even though it had the mint sauce on it but it had no taste either I had COVID-19 which left my tastebuds dead or terrible seasoning again.
Not getting to the main course I only got to say two things with proof of photos attached. The lamb curry was like minestrone soup, and the butter chicken was like tomato soup out of a tin with strips of chicken thrown into it. The Nan-bread looks good from the top but underneath they were overcooked this happens because the Tandoor oven was too hot, therefore inexperienced chefs.
The photos attached show the minestrone soup, then the tomato soup with strips of chicken thrown in, thereafter a lamb chop that looks like something out of an alien's body, and lastly the kebabs that tasted like a vegetable and had no meaty texture to it.
I then spoke to the assistant manager to my told that the food quality is not up to standards expected from a high class restaurant. I compared the food and to certain restaurants where I have had a great experience. Instead of absorbing my opinion he got on the offensive and said this is food for the city people. Now I'm wondering just city people like having served minestrone soup and tomato soup in an Indian restaurant. I also said to the assistant manager that in recent years the quality of food in Southall has improved considerably because of the competition of the numerous restaurants on the High Street in Southall. He perfectly well knew where Southall was but being ignorant he said is that near Swansea.
Lastly I approached the general manager who goes by the name Mr Joshi. As I was giving my feedback to him he was looking and unconcerned and uninterested in my opinion and feedback. I asked him do you speak any Asian languages and he's reply was no. This showed me that he was rude and ignorant.
The reason why am writing this review is because I am a massive foodie. Me and my family tried food in every type of restaurant all over the world. All 10 members of my family agreed that this was the worst food...
Read moreWe walked into Copper Chimey on Sunday 8th Dec 2024 as Flat Iron had a long queue.
Misserable red haired lady at the entrance showed us to our table. Zero conversation, no welcome, shows us to our table, leaves 2 menus and walks off.
We wait over 10 minutes before our waitress comes to take our drinks order. Again, zero conversation and you start to get the feeling that not only do staff seriously lack customer service skills, but they are not interested in creating a warm, welcoming and fun experience.
We ordered onion rings (bhajia style) and fried chicken (apparently in Indian spices). At this point, worth noting that my wife are I are Indian and very good cooks! Nothing about these starters was authentic Indian. £17 for 2 starters and they were far from Indian.
I asked the manager, Dip, to come and see us. I complained about the service, rather the lack of. He ignored my comments. I explained that the mains were not authentic indian at all. I asked him what is good and authentic indian on starters and mains He said that aloo chaat, roomali, green pea somosa and butter chicken wings are authentic. I asked which mains are authentic and indian He said all indian mains are very good and pretty much referred to every dish on the menu.
We ordered lamb samosa. Not good at all. The meat tasted very meaty and pastry is fried on the outside and a tad raw inside. We sent them back and ordered chaat instead. The chaat, whilst missing the traditional yogurt, was actually very good indeed. Soft potatoes and the perfect chaat spice.
We asked manager Dip what the butter chicken is like. He said it is very good and he 'guaranteed' we will like it. So we go ahead and order...
The butter chicken was no different to tomato soup with chicken pieces. Manager Dip takes it back and it comes back to us with exactly the same dish, but with added garam masala and chilli powder. Naturally, we sent it back as it just was not authentic Indian food.
I have to say that the service is appauling as our waitress did not once ask how our food was, nor any other statements to make us feel like she cared about our experience. The manager made very little effort to show any means of underatanding the client and their needs nor did he seek to offer any compensation (i e a dish on the house which met our needs and tased authentic).
Bill paid and we left.
I would not reccomend Copper Chimney as an Indian restaurant. The food quality and authenticity is a huge let down coined with a total lack of service. If you are in need of Indian food in Westfields, go to Bindas. Miles...
Read moreWe visited Copper Chimney on Sunday, July 13th as a group of 7 people, without a reservation, just hoping to have some drinks. Initially, a young waitress kindly told us we could sit down, but as soon as the rest of our group arrived and we were about to be seated, a more senior (and noticeably less friendly) staff member stopped us and insisted we could only sit at the high stools around the bar. Since we were a group of 7 who wanted to talk and enjoy together, this didn’t work for us and we decided to leave. However, as we were heading out, the young waitress kindly approached us again and said it would be fine to sit at a proper table, which we appreciated. We ordered drinks (which were on the pricier side) and were lightly encouraged to order some small dishes to go with them, which we did. Everything was fine until the end, when the waitress cleared the table and asked if everything was okay, we said yes and told her she could go ahead and clean the table. A few minutes later, to our surprise, she returned with the exact same round of drinks we had previously ordered. We told her we hadn’t asked for anything, but she insisted that I had personally told her to “bring the same order again.” I was honestly shocked — not only was I sure I never said that, but everyone else at the table also confirmed that I hadn’t. And besides, if we had wanted more drinks, why would we have ordered the same exact round again without asking for something different? She seemed offended and took the drinks away, which was fine. But when she brought us the bill, she once again claimed that she heard me request the same order again. I had to explain again that I absolutely didn’t say that, and it’s not common in the UK to repeat a full round of drinks without confirming the order first. One of my friends even jokingly said, “Well, if the drinks are on the house, we’re happy to help!” to which she coldly replied, “No, they’re not.”
While the place itself was decent and the younger staff member tried to be helpful, the miscommunication and the waitress’s attitude left us feeling uncomfortable. It’s a shame, because this experience really affected the overall impression...
