CR1 Bar & Lounge — Restaurant in London

We decided to visited CR1 bar for the first time as it was our work Christmas do. Venue was nice however it was cold, when asked they said that the heating has been put on not long ago and will take some time to heat the place up. We placed our drinks order which was not bad, cocktails were nice although it could have been abit cheaper as the glasses was small. We got Lagos Island and it was £14.30-not so bad but pricey.

Food- my gosh it was the worse service we ever got from a restaurant. We didn't even get starters as we knew it will take forever to reach us, we just went straight to the mains and order. Some of us wanted tilapia fish, which they run out which is typical as they opened at 5pm, so we decided to get the seabass fish we thought was again tasty and was whole fish for the price. When it came out it was 2 slice fillet disgusting as if they just put in the frying pan and straight to the plate. No season (salt or pepper), i then said to the waitress, it bad for an African restaurant to serve such a bland food like this. It was also meant to be served with other items and some garnish, but the waitress does not have a clue as she was arguing and getting fedup. We had to say to her is our money and we except what is written down should be part of the dish. The food was cold by the time it got to us, so did not eat much, after few bites as i was hungry, i started to feel upset as my stomach was very painful with cramps and went to the toilet to vomit. I think i had food poisoning then. It was a large group so some had their food abit early as for the rest of us well we waited and waited and waited. I don't think i will eat from here again after my experience, but will come back for drinks and dancers. Please get rid off your cooks or train them properly if they working in a Nigerian restaurant, food and taste should be top.

Dancers were very entraining and friendly- good job ladies Music...

TERRIBLE HOSPITALITY & CUSTOMER SERVICE; served with a side of obnoxious and arrogant grandiosity! Will never return and will also NEVER RECOMMEND!

Firstly, this place had the audacity to advise that a pair of nearly £1000 louboutin men’s footwear were apparently not considered appropriate for this ‘establishment’. When we raised the fact that we had noticed other patrons inside wearing very basic daytime footwear such as converse pumps and other very basic apparel (which louboutins are clearly not) they added further capitalist insult by saying “ well those people have paid £20 to enter wearing trainers and that the website states no trainer.

Firstly- you can go to many a high end establishment in west end/central London/ Mayfair that also state no trainers but DESIGNER FOOTWEAR PERMITTED! And secondly- the footwear in question were not in fact trainers to start with. In addition asking someone to pay £20 in order to gain entry if the footwear is deemed to not be a classic ‘church shoe’ just wreaks of a money making scheme; especially when you then enter to see the servers/staff themselves wearing airforce one Nike trainers- what a farce! This place is ‘MUTTON DRESSED AS LAMB’.

To further add insult to injury, the £16.50 cocktail took over 15 minutes to arrive at the table, and then arrived separately from the other drink ordered! By this point, i asked for the bill, advised the service charge would not be paid, settled the bill I leaving the drink fully untouched in order to make a swift exit; the great ESCAPE was needed from this place.

Oh, but they were not done with their arrogant egoism yet. Upon leaving, the same security guard/ doorman thought he needed to reiterate the footwear agenda yet again; even on our way-out “ don’t blur the lines with the footwear next time” he stated….…. Mate, the next time we visit this establishment will be when HELL...

CR1 Bar & Lounge is hands down the best spot in Croydon! There’s always something entertaining going on, whether it’s the unbeatable music, themed nights, or just the naturally amazing atmosphere, this place never disappoints.

The lighting and decor create the perfect vibe- stylish, vibrant, and welcoming. It’s the kind of place that lifts your mood the moment you walk in.

But what truly makes CR1 special is the incredible team behind it. From the security guards to the kitchen staff, and especially the bar staff 🥰 you’re all absolutely smashing it! The service is warm, friendly, and full of genuine smiles. It’s the kind of service you don’t get just anywhere.

A huge shout-out to Giuseppe and Steff (such a lovely girl!) you two are stars! And the amazing Asian guy (I wish I knew your name!) you’re always there helping with a smile, no matter how busy it gets. You all go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and looked after. My friends and I truly appreciate it.

And let’s not forget Ken 🙏 you’ve always been amazing. No matter what’s happening, you always take the time to come over and say hello personally. That little gesture means so much and speaks volumes about the care and energy you pour into this place.

The food is absolutely delicious, and the cocktails are next level👌 creative, fresh, and always made with love.

My friends and I visit regularly, even if it’s just for a quick drink 🍸 it doesn’t matter what day of the week it is, we’re always drawn back by the great energy and consistent quality.

To everyone at CR1💯 keep doing what you’re doing. You’ve created something truly special, and I highly, highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great vibes, great music, and even better people.
