Ordered the Mixed Grill for 2. I think it's great that you get to select the side to go with it. The lamb was super super tasty. The chicken was okay. We thought we'd try both sauces the lemon butter and the peri peri. Out of the two I think the peri peri is better. It was a bit hard to tell as the sauces were very close together. We also had a decent portion of Greek Salad. Really enjoyed the malva pudding. It had the right amount of sweetness. We were happy with our food.
The music played was really nice too. The team members were also courteous and kind, also quick when attending to us. Also kind to each other, by telling them to take care when walking over the mopped area, they also notified us too which was good. Using the tablelamp to signal for assistance is a very nice touch. It's an excellent system they have. On the other hand, with all the classy decor, and high prices for food, we would have expected glasses to be served with our bottled drinks. Maybe's there's more to this than what meets the eye.
We've seen many reviews on how lovely and clean the place is. So I had quite high expectations, especially as someone who has worked in the hospitaliy industry herself. But as you'll see in the photos, the restaurant was empty at the time, there was one waitress cleaning but she missed some vital obvious places . For example, she wiped the skirting/ledge on the wall but completely missed the dirty tiles, which had greasy fingerprints, and there was dust and cobwebs on the light fixtures which we were sat by. There was also this off-putting smell of dirty water or cloth. It may have been from the floor after it had been mopped or the fact we were seated right by the entrance of where they wash the dishes and utensils, the door may have been left open during our visit. Although it's very kind to allow customer's to choose wear to sit, if you have the intention of mopping an area, even if is a metre away from where the customer is sat and the restaurant is quiet, close off the space completely. It's not very pleasant to have a mop in your seating area while you're eating.
We arrived around 5 pm, so we saw cooks/chef going back and forth between areas, I guess they were prepping for dinner service. Quite an interesting layout, to have kitchen and washing area separate. 👀
Apart from that I would encourage others to visit the restaurant, there are still some items on the menu I would...

If you enjoy flavourful, well cooked, moist food this is the place for you. We ordered: mixed grill (lamb chops, birera wings, half chicken and chips) platter for 1 (6 large prawns, quarter chicken and rice) chicken liver pear salad
The lamb chops where melt in mouth and may have been my favourite thing! The chicken was Saucy and full of flavour, I usually find chicken dry but this was perfect. The rice and chicke ljver were tasty, I am not a liver person but this was great. The prawns where juicy and super tasty. The only thing id change is getting everything half and half as all the flavours blurred. The pear salad was an experimental choice, its really uniqe in flavour and we enjoyed it. Portions were decent and between 3 of us we were unable to finish.
Drinks: jug of lychee mojito Salaam cola cappuccino The jug was great value for money and we ended up taking some away. The mojito was refreshing and wasn't drawing in ice like other places. The Salaam cola was one of the reasons we came, I'd highly recommend it over coca cola and hope they can stop serving it all together. When people order coke I'd suggest they tell the servers to offer the option of Salam cola as it isn't in the menu and sometimes people might not realise its available. Salam cola genuinely tastes better!!!
We were stuffed but had to order the mava pudding - it lived up to the hype, perfect for a dreary Sunday when u want something cozy and warming.
Service was amazing, we had a little one with us and they were accommodating, highchairs are available on request. One of the waitresses went out of her way to make sure baby was comfortable. I love the attentive, friendly but unintrusive service - the light tapping idea so servers no u are ready to order is so innovative and works well. I thought I'd been given the wrong salad and they handled it sooo well. Facility wise They have all the bases covered - clean toilets, a prayer room with wudu facilities!!!!!
The ambiance of the place is great. Its a place that can be great for a chilled lunch or an occasion. Whilst the place looks great I'm happy to saying not substance over matter.
The Truro in my opinion is an all rounder that's...
Read moreSorry to say that I was super disappointed with the food here. I had been wanting to visit since I saw the restaurant open last year, the menu reads well and the reviews looks great. I had a friend come to visit and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to finally try the restaurant out. My friend was excited by the menu too!
In reality, yes the place looks nice - it’s a good amount space, well decorated too. Also the staff are lovely. We had the sweetest waiter, really liked him. However, the food just didn’t live up to the hype for me. And, I’m someone who loooooves food!
We were given some complimentary butternut soup to start, it was tasty and a nice way to intro use to the restaurant. Then we shared the grilled halloumi and cheesy garlic bread. The cheesy garlic bread was lush, I defo enjoyed that. We could’ve done without the halloumi though, it was way too salty. I went for the platter for 1 for my mains - 6 prawns, and a quarter chicken with rice. Thanks to the waiters recommendation I had both lemon butter sauce and peri peri sauce. My friend went for the braai lamb chops with sweet potato fries.
My first thought when I got my dish was how messy and unappetising it looked! The two different sauces were heavily put on top of everything, it was covered. I think I would’ve been better to get the sauces on the side so I would choose myself how much I want to use and where I want to put it. I just wanted to scrape it all off 🙈
Secondly, unfortunately none of the sauces packed the sort of flavour I would’ve been expecting. The same for the rice, it was tasteless and very underwhelming. The actual chicken (underneath all of the sauce) tasted like it has been seasoned well. And the prawns were juicy and good quality, even though having to remove the heads/legs made it look/feel messy.
But overall, there was a lot of food left on my plate, which is not the norm for me. My friend liked her fries but same the lamb was a bit too chewy.
I’m glad to see the business is doing well. It was busy and the other reviews here are positive but unfortunately, it just wasn’t the...
