UPDATE: Had another lovely breakfast today. Because I'm allergic to strawberries lots of efforts made to find an alternative and got the bonus of the owner's mother's white cherry jam made in turkey. Scrumptious! For several months my husband and I have been doing the rounds of cafés in Crystal Palace that serve breakfast from 8:30 on Sat mornings, and we are now starting to rate them. Today was our second visit to Crespidia. I loved this place when I first came for all the small touches, things my Mum taught me to appreciate. Water brought to the table on arrival in crystal/faux crystal glasses, cutlery with bone handled knives, china cups and saucers, china plates. And tea IN A POT! Choice of loose leaf or bag. They sell bread, dried flower arrangements, pot plants and also some unique individual pieces of clothing for sale on a rail too. It's easy to see they have picked up pieces here and there, pulling it all together to make an eclectically furnished, charming little cafe. The owners are friendly and there are homemade pastries/cakes etc on sale too. Plenty of dog owners from the park popping in for take away, along with people buying bread. We were able to relax and didn't feel rushed to leave. My Mum would have loved it and I'm about to call a couple of her friends to see if we can meet up there as I think they'd love it too. The food we had was good, individual requests were catered for. Some of the food was microwaved/warmed rather than made fresh to order, but this was understandable with only 2 staff, and didn't spoil the food we had which was good. Nice touches like a bit of green leaves, dressed, with.cooked breakfast, which I...
Read moreI typically refrain from expressing dissatisfaction, but my recent experiences at this coffee shop have compelled me to share my concerns. Despite the commendable quality of the bread and pastries, the service has consistently fallen short of expectations. The individual managing or working here has been notably impolite, a factor that has become increasingly apparent during my multiple visits.
I frequently incorporate this stop into my weekend walks with my children and we have consistently encountered a lack of courtesy. Each attempt at a friendly greeting in the morning has been met with indifference, as the person working there promptly turns away after completing the transaction. His consistent disregard and poor manners have left a lasting negative impression.
Regrettably, poor service has led us to the decision that we will not be revisiting. The overall experience has been marred by the discourteous behaviour. I hope this feedback provides an opportunity for improvement and enhanced...
Read more3 of us discovered this hidden gem on Anerly Hill today. At first you're met with a visual array of eclectic vintage items. Dotted around are lots of gifts to buy and as you study the space, this becomes more apparent. It feels like someone's front room and you begin to feel at ease. Then we were met with a fantastic menu of many enticing dishes. We opted for Buttermilk pancakes with natural yoghurt, maple syrup and berries, scrambled egg & crispy bacon on sour dough and homemade brioche French toast with bacon, banana and maple syrup. We had lattes and flat white coffee which. All were devourer and not a complaint was heard from any of us! We then spied the vast selection of home baked goodies and we decided to take home: Flourintine, blonde brownie, orange polenta cake and a huge coconut macaroon. We are discussing what to have the next time we go. Part of me wants to keep Crespidia to myself but it's really too good not to share! Visit, you won't be...
