I have visited Palazzo twice. Once last Monday with my wife. We came in at 12:00 as the restaurant was opening. It was 80% empty. We ordered some olives and 2 pizzas. The first pizza came lukewarm after sitting on the bar for a good few minutes. The second pizza came after we have finished the first one. The food was good and because on Mondays they do half price we sort of let it slide. This evening, however, there was 8 of us. We pre-booked the table a few days ago so no surprises there. We came on time and got our orders taken swiftly. During the process we got told that the black and white menu offer which states quote "SUNDAYS FREE PIZZA FOR KIDS For every adult meal (large plate or pizza) we'll throw in free kids margheritas. 2 kids pizzas per adult. Eat in only" we are only allowed 2 kids pizzas even though there was 6 adults ordering 5 meals. Just to be clear, we never wanted 10 kids pizzas. We wanted two regular Margheritas for our kids. This was declined by the waitress. She told us we could only get 2 pizzas per adult if we had more kids! Anyway, we ordered an extra pizza. The starters came in 3 batches. First 2 of them. Then 5 minutes later another 2 and after another 10 minutes one more. In a half full restaurant chefs should have a better synchronisation. In the meantime ordering an extra drink took a fair bit of eye catching and waiving to get some attention. The waitresses were standing behind the bar, not really fussed. When one of our companions spilled her drink ( in a fairly empty restaurant) nobody came and offered us tissues or any help. Later on, one of the kids spilled some olive oil and yet again no one was there to help. Every time we needed something we actually had to get up to get assistance. Given that service charge is included and this evening it cost us £31 I struggle to find the reasoning behind it. I was a waiter for 20 years and I completely agree that it is a hard job and needs to be rewarded appropriately, I agree with the service charge in the majority of cases and even leave a tip on the top of it. This evening however was the first time when I wanted to question and refuse the service charge (I did not in the end). If the service charge is there for the staff to ignore its customers and disregard them then I think the management will quickly realise that the numbers will fall. The food is good but unfortunately not timely. The service needs a lot of improvement and until that happens we will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ate here on Sunday and have been looking for their trip advisor page to leave my review but they do not have one (as far as I can see) I have to start of saying the restaurant itself is presented nicely and the the seats are comfortable but it is cold so bring a coat. After this though the whole experience left much to be desired.
The pizza was soggy and the 3 bits of Chorizo that I paid £3 extra for just slid of it. You will need to use a knife and fork (be prepared to ask 3 times for this) as the pizza just flops once picked up. The margarita pizza is mainly tomato sauce on pizza bread so maybe bring you own cheese.
I asked for a portion of chips plain for my 4 year son who is going through the fussy stage they usually come with parmesan and truffles but i asked for them plain. What was presented was about 10 chips in a tiny bowl.
When the bill came for 3 pizzas and 3 lemonades and chips it was £61. They add a 12.5 service charge for some reason as the service was none existent. Also if you ask for any extras like vinegar be prepared to pay for this as well I was charged £1 for vinegar. (in hindsight maybe I should have brought my own condiments as well as cheese) They did also charge me £4.50 for the 10 chips and for the parmesan and truffles that were not even there.
All in all I was very unimpressed by this pizza restaurant and will not be going back again I would rather spend my money on goodfellas frozen pizza and put the money saved towards the heating so at least I will be warm...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to Palazzo for a pizza and realised weād arrived shortly before their cut off for 2-for-1 cocktails ends on a weekday (5-7pm). We asked our waitress whether weād still be able to order for the deal at about 6.55pm and she said yes, it finished at 7 - so we proceeded to order our cocktails but told her weād need a couple more minutes for food. About 5-10 mins later our cocktails turned up - two drinks each! There was no mention on the menu or by the waitress that you had to order two of the SAME cocktail in order to qualify (which we hadnāt) which was annoying because we never specified two of the same drinks each?? Anyway despite querying it with the new server who brought them over we ended up just accepting all the drinks despite being slightly miffed. We then waited until 7.23 for someone to come over and take our food order. By this point, weād decided that we were so annoyed by the service that we didnāt want to eat there anymore and when someone finally came to take our food order we declined. We were then asked by two other servers in quick succession after that and with the final one we asked for the bill, and explained to him that weād like to take off the service charge and explained why (not that he was involved/had served us yet). A bit of a shame because we thought weād go out somewhere weād not been to on the triangle before but it just ended up being a disappointment - all because of the service, and it...
