Lorenzo of Crystal Palace — Restaurant in London

One of my favourite Italian restaurants! The food is always excellent, beautifully presented and so fresh. The staff are friendly and patient, even with two toddlers (who are not the quietest customers) and they're always happy to help accommodate your needs. The setting is intimate and cosy, and the decor is tasteful. The restaurant looks small from outside but they have plenty of seating available, including space you can hire for parties or events. They have good facilities including a baby changing table which is not something I can say for all the restaurants I've visited with my children. Overall, I love this place, I can't recommend it highly enough! It's great midweek for a quiet meal (I'd recommend it if you have noisy children like mine) or at a busy weekend - you'll get great service and a fantastic meal either way! They have good deals including a lunch offer and they are very reasonably priced anyway for the quality of the food - there is nothing on the menu I have tried that isn't absolutely delicious! A real gem in the middle of Crystal Palace. We looked in and nearly left as couldn’t see any tables. Fortunately we went in and asked and they had a lovely downstairs area which was spacious and quieter but still had a lovely atmosphere. The staff were attentive and great.

But the main reason for sharing the love in this review was the food. Reasonable priced but authentic and delicious. Every mouthful was heaven. We tried the sizzling garlic prawns, arancini and stuffed mushrooms for starters all 10/10. Mains followed with meatballs, lasagne and a pizza Bella all 10/10 again!

We didn’t want to push our luck as everything had been perfect and we were stuffed but saw the tiramisu was a 40 year old family recipe, as my daughter makes it frequently at home trying to create the best version she had to try. We visited Lorenzo's crystal palace this evening and to say that we were disappointed with the food and service is an understatement. I ordered spaghetti bolognese and there was NO BOLOGNESE sauce with the meat. The meat was inedible and it felt like I was eating corned beef as you could not make out what type of meat it was. The food was disappointing and the service was rushed. I have put one star because it would not post without adding one. The food should really look like restaurant presented food, not like it has been just thrown onto a plate.

My friend came up from Manchester and as a chef he had a lasagne that probably only had one thin layer and the cheese was rubbery. He would've got more value from a lasagne purchased from a local supermarket for a pound. Very disappointing and would certainly not recommend it for value for money.
