🚇 Blackheath 🍺 £6.00 Amstel
The Dacre Arms is located in a quiet residential area on the border between Lewisham, Lee and Blackheath. The nearest station is Blackheath, it’s a ten minute walk to get here.
This pub was built in 1864 and was remodelled in the 1970’s. The old public bar used to be at the front and the saloon bar at the back with the servery running through the middle.
This is a traditionally decorated pub that just oozes oldschool charm. The bar area is split into three sections which are separated by well preserved panelled partitions. The servery is located on the left-hand side and stretches down the length of the bar. The seating is an assortment of comfy curved banquettes with matching upholstered chairs, there were also stools in front of the servery which is always great to see. The walls are clad in beautiful fielded panels which have all manner of trinkets and knick-knacks hanging from them. There is also a signed picture of Mickey Pearce from Only Fools And Horses. At the back of the pub is a well appointed beer garden with a covered smoking area and outside bar.
The beer selection was a who’s who of familiar favourites plus four cask ales. I kept it simple and decided on a pint of Amstel, my pint hit the spot, price point was average. This pub doesn’t serve food but there are plenty of bar snacks to keep you going.
I arrived just after opening and was soon joined by one of the locals who plotted up at the ramp. As it was quiet, I managed to have a good mooch about the pub and see it in all its glory. The service was excellent, the Lady who served me was lovely and chatty, which set a nice tone for my stay here.
The @dacrepub is a hidden gem that is everything you would want a backstreet local to be. I absolutely loved the fact that the decor had not been tampered with and has been lovingly maintained. In today’s commercially profit-driven era of gastropubs and brewery chains, it was great to spend time in this marvellous and much loved local boozer.

Read moreHadn't been in the pub for over a decade - though always viewed it as a solid, traditional boozer ! - but have now been twice over the last week. The beer garden is a revelation ... compact, yes, but very tastefully designed and with its own bar. The interior is very warm and inviting ... can imagine pleasant winter nights therein. The staff are welcoming, courteous and very efficient while the selection of drinks is extensive. The prices are very competitive, significantly lower than the gastropubs of Lee and Hither Green. An excellent pub, well worth going out of one's...
Read moreWould have given 1, honestly 0 stars for today but wouldn't be fair on my overall experience. Loved it, since I moved in new place and found this lovely pub round the corner. Jim and another lady have been very friendly. However, today, I just met new lady behind the bar, she tried to charge me extra. When I said that I always pay that amount, she seemed miserable and said this time she will do it. Really??! I've been coming here for the last 4 months! Never seen this pub so empty in all that time.. With the customer service like that, not...
